Camplite Truck Campers / Dark Camper too hot!
October 07, 2015, 09:32:29 PM
Hey Frank M; good evening. Any update on how the StaKool coating worked for you?

SWBC150, you mentioned your ceiling was cool to the touch after adding StaKool, do you think it was worth the time and effort?

I am looking at doing this modification as well.

Thanks for your comments!

I saw a note from Leslie regarding Dawn liquid detergent for black tank cleaning. Attached is link to The GEO Method of black tank maintenance and odor control. I looked for this discussion on the LL forum but could not find it; if this is a repeat please forgive me.

https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/

I have been using  this since we purchased our trailer in April, no issues with odor etc. but we do have tank sensors that do not register correctly from time to time. We are very pleased with this method of black tank control due to not using expensive chemicals sold for black tank odors. We keep the Dawn, powdered detergent and Calgon in the trailer and use a smaller amount each time we dump the black tank. We always fill the black tank to capacity prior to dumping.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Wood Cabinet Doors
September 20, 2015, 08:41:25 PM
I could not see any up to date photos on the LL website either. I do notice they continue to push the no wood theme. I believe this will get them a lawsuit sooner rather than later as they continue to push this marketing scheme. Buyer beware.

Ask the factory / Quality Control 2015

FAST Eddie,

I think you and Karen have the record for the most issues with a CL LL trailer; your rig must have been produced on Friday afternoon or Monday morning!

Doug, switch your tires to Maxxis radials or equivalent; you will have much greater piece of mind while rolling down the highway.  That is what I did after all the cracks etc. appeared in my tires on a new trailer. I think I saw somewhere in this forum that LL was switching to radials on new trailers but not sure.

Camplite General Q & A / generators

David, I have looked at a couple of youtube videos and you are correct, it appears one leaves the old capacitor in place and simply attaches wires to the old unit.

Camplite General Q & A / generators

OK, so hard start and soft start are basically the same. I see from the internet that one removes the existing capacitor and replaces with the new one or Supco. Both wires on the Supco are black so it does not matter which one goes where? I believe I read this in one forum on Supco. Everything I have read is these capacitors are a great modification for an RV AC unit. They appear to be inexpensive 10-25$ so not sure why they are not standard??  One technician at an RV shop thought my LL would have it installed from the factory due to it being a more expensive trailer?

I will try the Supco SPP6E.

Thank you very much for your input,  David. I will report back once I get this capacitor installed and checked out.

Camplite General Q & A / generators

David, what is a soft start kit? I have two 2000 watt IQ Generators from Costco (Smarter Tools). They can be attached with parallel cable and are very quiet, but one will not run my 21BHS AC unit. You are correct in that it is the start up that causes one unit to kick out.  I used the two units in the Smokies for a few hours during the day to cool things down but still to noisy to use at night. One unit will run the fan no problem but not the AC. I get a little nervous using the AC and Microwave at the same time on shore power.

Camplite Travel Trailers / floor plan for 4?
August 26, 2015, 08:59:44 PM
If you are constantly in steep hills as described above, go with the larger vehicle, v8 minimum.  Pulling a 21 BHS with all your gear will be near 5000 lbs and a V6 in continuous hills or mountains will be marginal but not give you any service factor for heat, altitude etc. I am not sure about the 2016 Tacoma but again the Tacoma will be fine in normal conditions but a lot of hills all the time????? Go bigger engine.

I agree with Fast Eddie on this one; the only item one needs to buy the extended warranty for is your cell phone. You will probably wash it as a result of it being left in a pocket, or drop it in a toilet. We were pressed pretty hard to buy the extended warranty but chose not to do so. My thought process is it is a money maker like gift cards, sell, sell, sell, if possible. I like to ask how a person is paid to determine how I buy things. If guys push too hard I start backing up on the purchase of the product as it must be junk because they are so sure I need it.

A  LL Rally will be very interesting and educational; we will definitely try to attend from Athens GA!

New Members / Hello from Livin' Lite!

Question for Christian or Taylor:

I have the 21BHS and it was hit by a truck back door that swung open as the truck was moving past our 21 BHS at a storage facility. The back has to be painted and the RV repair company is telling me they are having issues getting a price for the decals for the back and the hot water heater outer door. Can you tell me who at LL I could contact to get these parts. Thanks MonteD

Interesting issue about this is the trucking company was moving furniture for a lady to storage. Nobody said anything about the problem. I discovered the damage when we were getting ready for a trip to Tybee Island GA. All the damage is in a straight vertical line about 1.5 inches wide from just above the bumper all the way to the top trim. I called the storage facility and they said they would review their camera security tapes. Sure enough, they got it on camera. The truck owner does not recall the incident but is willing to pay for the damage. I think he recalls it now since he was told they have it on camera; I am all for security cameras and like others on this forum may get one for our pickup to video driving down the highway.

Owners that sell their companies to others rarely stay longer than a year or so regardless of the contract they have in place. The old owners cannot stand the changes being made to the company they created and built; no difference here from reading Scott's comments.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Camping at a WalMart
August 10, 2015, 08:31:23 PM
I am not totally negative to Walmart but going forward if I stay at one:

It will not be a huge 24 hour a day Walmart.
It will not be near a major highway
It will be in a small town versus a large town, again no 24 hour WM.

Free is Free, unless you spend $57 like we did at Walmart shopping for new trailer accessories etc. Never say Never but pick your Walmarts carefully! I support the Waltons daily shopping at Walmart and Sam's weekly; nobody has cheaper gasoline!

Camplite Travel Trailers / Camping at a WalMart
August 10, 2015, 09:14:50 AM
We spent the second night in our camper at Walmart getting home to GA from IL. We checked twice with them for approval being new and they told us where to park. It turns out we were on the supplier delivery side of the store, 18 wheelers coming in all night long. It was also the employee parking lot side and at 11 PM cars slamming doors etc. One guy left a little later on his Harley and made sure we all knew he had a Harley. My bride woke up at two AM trying to find out what the huge bright lights were shining into our camper and then going by. She said it was a Zamboni! Turns out it was a parking lot street sweeper going back and forth! Finally the next morning we looked at each other and said the 20-30 bucks to park somewhere may be a deal! Walmart is free, but man what a rough night!
