I saw a note from Leslie regarding Dawn liquid detergent for black tank cleaning. Attached is link to The GEO Method of black tank maintenance and odor control. I looked for this discussion on the LL forum but could not find it; if this is a repeat please forgive me.

I have been using  this since we purchased our trailer in April, no issues with odor etc. but we do have tank sensors that do not register correctly from time to time. We are very pleased with this method of black tank control due to not using expensive chemicals sold for black tank odors. We keep the Dawn, powdered detergent and Calgon in the trailer and use a smaller amount each time we dump the black tank. We always fill the black tank to capacity prior to dumping.

thanks for taking the time to post. After reading the article, I feel like I now know way more about what I should have known about black water tanks... ???(i'm glad i'm typing this and not saying it).

The one thing I didn't see in the article was to put a few jack pads under the wheel side opposite the drain when dumping at a station...it solves the old "did I get it all out problem" by creating a bit of a slope downward to the valves...
