It's raining here this morning. Replacing door seals on the CampLite this afternoon.

Probably heading out camping somewhere in North Carolina or South Carolina next week.

Lucky you! My unit is winterized and stored :(

Thanks!!!!

We camp year around here. Used to live close to Lake Erie, and know how it goes with chilly weather.

We aren't too far from SC and enjoy this location for outdoor activities. The high elevation mountains are 2 hours away and highs in the 70s when the temps are in the 90s in the lower elevations!

By heading to mid to southern SC in the winter increases the temps by 5 to 8 degrees.  8-)

I was just thinking it's been 2 weeks since I camped, and I need to get outside again.  I was looking at Merchants Millpond or Great Dismal Swamp. I hear the black water swamps are amazing with fall colors.

Last of the Mohicans was filmed near Asheville, which is 90 minutes west of South Mountains State Park (the pic with the waterfall). Also lost of good camping in the Asheville area.  And lots of good beer. Highest concentration of microbrews per capita in the US.

Understand some of the filming was done at Chimney Rock in the Lake Lure area, not far from Asheville. Great motorcycle roads in the area!

We've not camped @ Merchants Millpond, but need to.

Here's some shots taken during camping trips south of Asheville:

We are near Lake Erie and right now it is 35 degrees. We winterized last weekend, but we may still get out a day or two of boondocking! We seize every moment we can get!
About 1982 or 1983 on Super Bowl day, high temps got to -23 and low temps were -28F, if I remember correctly. The wind was 30 to 40MPH, too. Our friends taught us how to play Euchre. Great people, but could not get used to the cold weather. First chance we had to transfer back down south, we took it!

Edit:

The door seals came in and did not work out. I changed material (hardness) and thickness. Re-ordered from McMaster Carr and will install next week when new seals come in. May miss the warm weather window for camping next week. Will see....

BTW Lake Lure can be seen in the background as they are heading up the trail at Chimney Rock in Last of the Mohicans. There was also another film you might remember that was filmed a the Lodge on the Lake.............Dirty Dancing.
Used to live halfway between Asheville and Cherokee in Balsam. Spent a lot of time on the Parkway since I could practically stand out my back door and throw a rock at it. There are a lot of great places to camp around that area that people don't really know about since they are kind of off the beaten path, which makes for a very relaxed time without the crowd. But I do love the chance I get here in N.Fla. to go camping all winter,as a matter of fact going next Friday for a w/e at Three Rivers SP on Lake Seminole. Gonna' be a good time as I've got my favorite spot right on the lake reserved and can cast a line right at the edge of my site. :)

Have been looking at Lake Seminole for camping in the winter.
Will check out Three Rivers SP! Thanks for the tip!

We love visiting the mountains , either camping or riding motorcycles.

Took this shot from the Lake Lure Dam:

We just got back from South Mountains SP NC and the weather was great! This SP is less than a 1/2 tank of gas round trip from home, so it's nice during the winter when we have a good weather window.
