Hello, my husband and I have been looking at the 11 fk. With tilt out bunk. Do any of you have it?  Do you like it?  What do you tow wth and any issues.  Thanks char

We have a CampLite 11 without fold out bunk. We like our 11 footer and tow it with a Nissan Frontier pickup with 4.0L engine. No issues towing with the Frontier. Towed it 5000 miles last summer without any problems.

Hi exploringcarolina, thank you for answering my question I so appreciate any input you may have:). We have a 2009 hyundai Santa fee limited with tow package 6 cy 3.3 liter.  We have a popup at the present time but are needing to get a light weight towable hard side and we ran across the livin lite 11 fk and we really really like it and love the hybrid option of the bunk that way we can bring maybe 1 grand sometimes.  We need the pottie at night sometimes at this point in our life and something a little easier to set up and this seems to fit tHe bill without getting too big.  However, we are concerned if our TV will tow it ok and stay under the limits.  We have looked at the t@b which would work weight wise we believe, but space is limited and also looked at the white water rectro 155xl very cute but very small bed but table makes into bed.  It would be close to our weight limits.  Thank you so very much for any input you or anyone else has.  Experience from others is such valuable information:)

[font size="3"]You didn't say what the rated towing capacity of the Hyundai is. Is it 2WD or AWD. Both are rated at 3500# so you shouldn't have much trouble with the 11FK. Loaded weight should be around 2500#. You may not be the first one to the top of the hill with the small engine, but with a good proportional brake controller, and probably a weight distribution hitch, you should be fine. Enjoy.

We were in for a rude awakening when we purchased our first travel trailer. The CampLite 11 only weighs in at 2000lbs loaded ready to camp. Planned to tow it with a 1987 Toyota Pickup with 2.4L 4 cylinder appx. 120HP engine. The pickup was rated for 3500 lbs, and towed our 1000lb Chalet A-Frame pop-up easily. When we picked up the CampLite 11, could hardly tow at 55MPH on the way home on interstates in the flat lands of SC. The height (additional wind resistance) of a travel trailer required more power than our pickup had. Purchased a used 2003 2.4L (fuel injected appx. 140HP) Tacoma from our Son with 5 speed manual transmission. Only had enough power to tow @ 55MPH in 4th unless going down a grade. This same pickup easily tows a 1900lb boat & 1000lb motorcycle trailer (low profile) in hilly terrain @ 65MPH.

Purchased the 262HP 4.0L V6 Frontier and can tow the CampLite 11 as fast as we want. Of course the faster I tow the fuel economy suffers. Normally tow @ 60MPH getting 14 to 15MPG.

It is a 2WD (front), 3.8 liter V6. It was not equipped with the factory tow package. We had a transmission cooler installed and the wiring to tow and that's about it. We are able to fairly easily tow the 13 RDB (1850 lbs dry) at 65 MPH. Our fuel mileage drops from 19/20 to 10/11 though. We also looked at the other rigs you mentioned - T@B Little Guy, Retro, RPOD. When compared side-by-side to the LL I didn't feel like the quality of the others matched up. And of course the weight. However when my transmission mechanic found out what we were doing he smiled and said "see you soon" and I do feel like I am hastening the demise of my Mitsu. But at 184,000 miles, I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. The goal is to drive it to 200,000. If the tranny goes I'll likely fix it. The motor has been strong and overall the vehicle has been reliable (still taking it cross country regularly) and I keep up with all the suggested maintenance. I don't see why your SF wouldn't do ok hauling the 11FK. Good luck!

I tow a 13QBB with a 2014 Ford Escape, my Escape is rated at 3500lbs and I do have the factory tow package. The dry weight of the 13QBB is 2350lbs. It is really hard on gas probably get like 11/12 mpg and with a small gas tank I have to stop often for gas!

[p]We did the opposite. We decided to buy a forever trailer. A one time trailer purchase that led to the Camplites construction in the first place for a price premium. We wanted to be sure it would be large enough forever knowing full well the maxed out tow vehicle will be replaced, easily a little larger next time, far more often than the trailer ever will.

We, like Paul above, tow with the 2014 Ford Escape 4 cyl intercooled turbo. We got the 16DB that I weighed at 2750 dry. Special attention needs to be paid to loading this combo but it can safely tow 3500 lbs with 350 lbs on the tongue. A more precise number is 3300 and 350 tongue.

So far it hauls real well and am not the slow poke on the roads. Haven't seen real blustery wind yet though. But at 65-70mph we get 10-11 mpg[/p][p]
[/p][p]I guess it is up to you. Fit the trailer to your existing tow vehicle with something like a 20% safety margin or consider no cross country trips and diligently packing lighter and more well distrubuted than normal for a couple years until you upgrade the tow vehicle. Maybe take it slower than you would like.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Either way good luck with your new trailer, enjoy and welcome![/p]

I considered a 11FK also, but ended up going with an 13QBB for almost the same price.  A little more elbow room and a layout that works better (for us) was the deciding factor...although since I'm towing with a '97 4Runner the slightly higher weight did get some consideration before that decision.  However, the first trip, which was over 2,000 miles, went just fine.  I suspect you'll also do with fine with your tow rig and the 11FK.  As others mentioned, prepare for a big reduction in MPG (mine went from 20 mpg hwy to 10-12 mpg towing at 65 mph) but that comes with the territory.

Also, slightly off-topic, but I noticed today that PPL Motorhomes in TX has a pretty good selection of CampLite and Axxess trailers on their used/consignment lot...but these are all listed as "new", so they may have bought out a LL dealer's inventory or something along those lines:  http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/travelt/travel-trailers.php

I bought a 13qbb last year. My tv is a Santa fe sport 2013 with a tow capacity of 3500 pounds. I had no problems At all during last Summer. We Made 10 short or long exit ( between 3 to 7 days eaches). I haven't weight distribution hitch, only an antisway. We enjoy our 13qbb so much.

good summer

Thanks all for your comment!  I must say now I am getting a little nervous about towing this.  We might have to rethink this it may just be too much for us.  I do appreciate all your comments!

Hi Char, I tow 11 foot Camplite FK with a 2011 6 cylinder Hyundai SantaFe limited with trailer package and my biggest problem is remembering that the trailer is back there, and to take it a little easier than I would if it was not following me down the road. best of luck with your decision.
