Has anyone taken their trailer to Big Bend State Park in Texas? We have a 4 wheel drive tow vehicle and the trailer is supposed to be for off road but we have not taken it "off road" yet and would like to go to Big Bend. Thanks

Have not camped in Texas, but Welcome to the forum!

I have not made my way out that way so I cant speak about the area specifically. However I have spent a number of years off roading, and even played a little with towing a small trailer for tent camping. I would say that the type of trailer has little to do with how it handles "off road". These units are clearly more rugged than most travel trailers but I wouldn't expect them to hold up to too much abuse. If you are talking logging trails, or relatively light dessert country I think you will be fine. If you are looking at lots of rocks, or a lot of off camber situations I think you will run into some trouble. You will have mild ground clearance and better tires than most so a lot of it depends on your skill/comfort in difficult situations. The other difficult aspect is the hitch coupling. The standard ball coupling will not be able to articulate to any extreme.

In short, if you are not blazing new trails on steep terrain I don't see much trouble. Just make sure everything is locked down tight. Oh and take lots of pictures/video and let us know how it goes :)

Have been to BB Ranch State Park, but not with our CL. We had trouble enough with our 4x4 Z71 Tahoe. The rangers seemed pretty knowledgeable about the different sites and how easy they were to navigate. 26 miles of gravel road just to reach the ranger station. Loved it and can't wait to go back with camper intow. Looking forward to your report.

Thanks for the replies. CMAC our campsite is 3 miles from a Ranger Station.it is a 2 wheel drive high clearance site. I assume if you are wanting to take your camper it is possible.  We don't like camping in the RV parks the sites are always to close together.  But this trip will be by far the most rugged we have done with our trailer.
