I have a Ford Escape 2014, and because of the shape of the mirror it's hard to attach a towing mirror with strap to it, I lost one the other day on the highway. I was wondering if there was an option to change the factory mirror by towings aftermarket one instead, something more permanant that you could extent when towing. Something like this http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Mirrors/mirror_extensions_cipa.htm I can't find one that fits the Escape they are all made for pickup truck so it seem that all I can use are those universal towing mirror which are a bit hard to fit on the shape of the mirror of the Escape.  What are you guys using?

Which one are you currently using? I don't need mirror extenders with my vehicle, but if I were in your situation I'd try one of the smaller ones with the clamps:

[/quote]I have this exact mirror and the issue I have with it is that it slips.  No matter how I adjust the feet or how tight I make it,  it slides off of the truck mirror as I go down the road, to the point where I'm worried it will fall right off.  It's even worse in the rain. Perhaps it's just the contour of the Tacoma mirror but I wouldn't buy this particular one again.

This is the mirror I use.

I had not much problem with it, towing a lot with drive 12+ hour but for some reason sometime they are hard to attach because of the shape of the mirror it's kind of round at the back and the mirror is not square. So sometime I attach it improperly I guess because it's hard to do and a couple of time I was close to loose it but was able to go on the side of the road to adjust, except that time where I lost it on the highway :)

Since the problem is vehicle-specific, you might consider taking a pass through a forum focused on Escape owners. Even rv.net is a wider net to cast than a tow-vehicle specific forum.

I did posted this already on a Escape forum

I think they're a bit smaller. I'd go for the McKeshes again. YMMV. You get what you pay for.

This is not exactly an elegant solution, but I can see where it could work. Do you use this mirror on the passenger door as well as the driver door?

I bought these after I lost one of my strap-on mirror on the highway and they are really good

I always use them on both doors. I also remove them once I'm at the campsite. Takes 30 seconds to remove and a minute to mount, once you get them dialed in. I tow with a 2013 Grand Cherokee.

This is good to hear. I tow with a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I have a 2015 custom Camplite 21-BHS. What are you towing?

For Toyota Tacoma owners:

If you need towing mirrors, you can't beat ProEFX mirrors.  They replace the factory mirrors and look like and flip up like the mirrors on late model Dodge RAM 2500/3500 trucks.

About a 30 minute installation and so far I have no complaints with them.  In fact, I can almost read the license plate on the back of my Camplite...........

Tacomaworld.com forum has some excellent comments on them and there may be a group buy available in Spring.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/group-buys/327741-proefx-towing-mirror-gb-2-a-12.html   Follow the thread to near the end if you are interested.

I previously used the Milenco mirrors someone mentioned above and found they worked quite well except for having to install and remove them.

That link doesn't seem to work.  I did a quick google for ProEFX mirrors and I didn't find a set for the Tacoma, Tundra yes, not Tacoma though.
