Protect your gaskets

Another thread noted the slide leaked when towing in driving rain, which may indeed have been a faulty gasket or some other malfunction.

this prompted a thought.  In my past life with commercial cooking equipment, we were taught to leave all doors slightly cracked when the equipment was not in use to protect the expensive gaskets.

i try to do this with my 14dbs, leaving the windows basically hanging, to avoid compressing the gasket.  On most all days I open them further for air circulation.   Keep screens in use to prevent birds and insects from entering.  As it is parked by my main home exit, when I leave I just go around and release them into a relaxed down position should it storm when I am gone

i also leave my slide open about 1" to not compress that really gig gasket when it is just sitting at the house 

the entire camper is generally under a breathable gold line cover, which I also unzip a ton on breezy days to get good circulation on the camper.  This keeps the uv rays off all gaskets and tires.
