I talked to the dealer this morning. He knew nothing about when my camper was to begin production, but he said it was scheduled for September 16 for a completion date!

A couple of weeks ago, I read the Jeep owner's manual, cover to cover. Right there it said that towing more than 3,500 lbs required WDh. I decided to go with the e2 WDH. Today's call was to finalize what the dealer will be installing:

Receiver
Ball mount/ball pin
Back up camera and wiring
Fastway e2 WDH 600/6000 round bar
Prodigy P3 brake controller with harness for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I sincerely hope I haven't forgotten anything.

Looks like you will get yours before I get mine....oh well.

Does your Jeep not have the factory tow package? I ask because you have receiver listed and that should already be installed if you had the tow package. I also ask because the harness for the brake controller won't be there if you don't have the tow package. The dealer will need to run all the wiring and it will end up taking longer and being more expensive (though you won't need to buy the Tekonsha Jeep adapter).

The e2 comes with the ball mount, but it does not come with a ball. The 2" ball must be purchased separately. Your dealer hopefully knows this, but you might want to still check.

Tinkering Techie - I wasn't sure about that receiver item either. But what do I know? Never towed before. The salesman at the dealer wrote that down.

The parts manager knows more about this than the salesman. I am going to the dealer next week to review this list with the parts manager.

I do have the tow package and in the glove box is a plastic wrapped brake controller wire. I need to show this to the parts manager.

What I am curious about is the e2 WDH roundbar. Is this correct? I thought those of you who use this have the trunnion? This thing connects to the tongue, rather than the frame of the trailer is what I thought.

Funpilot, if your CL is just waiting on a fix for the sofa, we might be getting ours about the same time. Waiting is terrible...

It sounds like you do have the tow package, so you already have a receiver and the wiring harness should be there.

There are only minor differences between the trunnion and roundbar E2's. I have the trunnion and Charlie has the roundbar. They should function identically. The only differences are that the trunnion might have more ground clearance (if the shank doesn't get in the way) and the round bar has more mounting flexibility (you won't need to move your propane tanks). Some would argue that the trunnion design is stronger, but at these weights it doesn't really matter. I find the trunnion bars easier to store, but that's also a minor point.
The brake wire in your glove box probably has only one connector and just wire leads on the other. That's for wiring in a controller that is not plug-and-play. You will still need the specific Tekonsha  adapter for your jeep. It makes the installation very easy.

I agree on the trunnion vs. round bar E2. Probably six one way, a twenty fourth of a gross the other  ::).

For peace of mind I'd verify a factory installed tow package, sounds like you have it but I'd triple check.  You also want to check and see if the factory installed tow package includes a supplemental oil cooler and a supplemental transmission cooler. Personally I consider those essential.

Instead of buying off the lot, we had the factory build our Jeep Grand Cherokee. We made sure that the factory-installed tow package was on the order.

I did the same thing for my escape there was none in the lot with the tow package. And it was à long wait to get it! But wont be too much wait for the CL going to buy one off the lot on Saturday :D

Its great to hear your trailer is so close to completion.  Let us know how the check out goes - I'm especially curious how to do the wet tests at a dealer

I plan to take a garden hose with me. The dealer has water. I am working on a list of what I will need when  I take delivery. PDI checklist, hardcopy of LL owner's manual, my checklist for setting up the camper, notepad and pen, garden hose, carpenter's level, perhaps my checklist for closing up the camper, cell phone to take pictures, Advil..

Edit to my list: lithium grease for my ball - don't want to forget that. How to apply the grease - disposable plastic glove or some sort of brush??

Paul -I checked your personal info - 13QBB, A/C, black, dark cherry inside, 2nd LP. .. Sounds like you will be enjoying some camping before the weather gets too cold.

I went to the dealer today and talked to the parts manager. Having everything done that is on my list will cost $200 less than the piece of paper that the salesman gave me! And that includes upgrading to the P3 brake controller!

I don't need the receiver that the salesman put on the list. I have the tow package. The ball mount comes with the e2 WDH.
The parts manager said he would just give me the ball. I do need the harness for the Jeep. Still $200 less! Thanks for the advice!
