I made this mistake and got lucky. I'm sharing because I sure don't want it to happen to anyone else! Most, if not all of you, aren't as dumb as me, but if you are, please heed this advice!
My wife and I started to set up our 10.0 in the driveway. The reason was so I could work on the sink - I've never been able to get the faucet to work from the blue tank unless I prime first with city water, which is pretty pointless. So once again, I wanted to fiddle with it. Since it wasn't going to be up for long, we did not go around and fasten all the snaps, just the ones on the corners of the tent.
Our 1 and 1/2 year old toddler of course climbed inside to help Daddy. He loves the camper. My wife went inside the house. Soon he was jumping on one of the beds as usual while I had my head buried under the sink. The next thing I hear is "Daddy, help!" I looked up and his butt was completely out of the end of the tent, where it should have been snapped. Arms, legs, head and torso still inside, so he was wedged in there pretty good. I got very lucky. If he would have gone feet first, or head first, he would have slipped right out and landed on the concrete.
Again, I'm sure most of you would have the foresight to prevent this, but I didn't. Hope this prevents even one bruised toddler, and it will be worth sharing.

This post had me smiling b/c I could just see my 2.5 year old doing the same thing, and in fact my younger sister had a similar experience when we were kids. She was about 2 and we were camping in a Coleman pop up. Those at the time only had some bungee cord to secure the tent material. Well in the morning the found her little feet hanging out the end where she had rolled over during the night. Apparently it didnt bother her too much b/c she never woke up :)

Good post, Jim. Glad your Munchkin wasn't hurt. We are always kinda hoping for grandchildren so, while we don't need the warning yet, it's good to know since I often snap just the corners when just going in to check supplies in the cabinets or do some other work.

I can't help with the sink pump thing. We've had our 8.1 since 2010 and never hooked it up. We think of ourselves as still tent camping. We use the sink for miscellaneous storage of things we use all the time, like small LED lanterns, the digital indoor-outdoor thermometer, flashlights &c. A lot of folks don't use the thing, and many that do have the same problem. Check the Yahoo forum because there have been numerous discussions over there about the issue. We are too lazy to deal with it, but I admit it's kinda silly to have it and not use it.

Thanks Chuck,

We have yet to use the sink either, and it is a great place to store small stuff. Even when I have hooked it up to city water it isn't really worth it. Its just me - if its there, it should work. That said, much easier to have a gallon jug of water to make coffee on a cold morning and such. Other than the sink, love the camper. Bought it in March and have been in it almost as much as we have been home. Great summer.

I have used the sink to wash dishes! Was cold out boiled some water and added it to some water in the sink with some Dr Bromes soap. Wasn't perfect but kept warm and got some dishes done!

My 10 year had a sleepover at a friends house in their popup (not a Livinlite) and rolled right out of the darn thing.

I had some trouble with the sink until I realized it was the upward stroke the pumped the water.  Hard to describe, but I initially would do a bunch of short downward pumps and nothing happened.  Then I tried long upward pumps and voila!  We used it occasionally on our maiden voyage.

I couldn't stand the factory pump and had the chance to replace it when the stupid handle sheered right off. I have another thread on the new pump and my idea of converting the plumping so all my water sources can be exterior to the camper (including the water jug).

[attachment id="369" thumbnail="1"]I contacted the faucet company and they told me when you are dry camping the line to the city water hook-up has to be plugged tight. I bought a brass plug to put in the end of the city hook-up line so that I don't have to connect it at all when I set up and the faucet works great. I actually love the faucet it came with. Yes, it is not for doing dishes, but it is great for brushing your teeth, washing up the kids' faces, feet, etc. I just wish Livin Lite provided more instructions with their campers.
