I just recently bought a used 2015 16DB.  My tow vehicle is a Ram 1500.  Towing it home, approximately  100 miles (expressway and back roads), I noticed no swaying issues.  Prior to the 16DB, I towed a smaller teardrop trailer.  Is a WD hitch necessary?  Thanks.

You need neither.

BTW-I have a 2016DB with double axles and tows fine with my 2014 GMC All Terrain PU without any level/sway bar.

Thanks.  Mine is a double axle as well.

The double axle on a 16 (mine is a 16TBS) can cause a light tongue weight when not loaded. Unloaded I only had 250 lbs on the tongue. That was below the recommended 10%, but it towed with little or no sway anyway with my 2013 pathfinder.

Since bringing it home from the dealer, I have probably added 50-100 lbs more to the tongue weight with gear additions and it still tows great.

Your 16DB may have more or less tongue weight than mine due to layout and interior stuff, ie no heavy slide.

Keep the tongue weight at 10% or more and it will tow fine with your RAM without a WDH or sway control.
