Do we really need a battery?

We pick up our new QS 8.0 in a few days. Our unit does not include the LP package, which is fine with us. But it also doesn't come with a battery, and I'm wondering if we can skip it. We won't be doing any boondocking, and on the rare occasions when we won't have shore power, we can make do with lanterns in the camper and charge our phones in the car.  Am I missing something?  Is there a compelling reason to get the battery?

Lanterns are ok but hot or cold it's nice to have the light fan combos. Again you can charge your phones in the  car but it's just nice to plug it in before you go to bed. Also you won't boondock till you NEED to.

This summer I only went to sites with electricity. No battery needed. When the power gets shut off in October and I go out a few times, I'll hook up a battery for charging phone and, I hope a small ceramic heater.

Fans and lights don't really care, but any electronics are susceptible. Yes you can get along without a battery, but it's cheap and easy convenience and protection. It doesn't have to be an expensive high capacity battery; a low priced group 24 battery like RV dealers commonly include is perfectly adequate.

[p]A battery for your trailer won't power a ceramic heater. If it is a QS with no propane furnace, then consider a small radiant LPG heater. Even a very small one using a 1 lb propane cylinder will warm up a QS in the morning. If you have the LP stove package you can tee in to the stoves propane supply and hook up a propane hose to a radiant heater for longer and cheaper running. But I wouldn't run a propane radiant heater overnight- just in the evening before bed and first thing in the morning.[/p][p]
[/p][p]And I totally agree with Charlie's thoughts above- a battery helps stabilize the voltage and isn't that expensive to install- maybe $100 if you DIY.[/p][p]

[font size="3"]I would think much less than $100. The LL site shows the battery box, and I assume the rack, is standard. Adding the battery should simply be buying it and hooking it up. WallyWorld, Costco, etc.
