Steel in Camp Lite roof

Hello,

I just bought a 2016 Camp Lite 21' RBS, it appears that the roof framing material is steel instead of aluminum. I can drag a magnet across the ceiling and locate steel members approx. every 24'' O.C. Can anyone give me alternative explanation?

I intend to park this thing on the beach year round is why I am concerned! Any feedback will be appreciated!

I think the jury is still out. There is some ferrous fastening hardware used in the ceiling, but it's still unclear what Thor is actually using with the new roof.

We purchased a 2015 CL21RBS in Feb. 2015. At the time I requested the structural drawings for the camper from Don at Livin Lite. They were emailed to me and I printed them out for future reference. There were two drawings of each side of the camper. One shows the aluminum frame and parts list. The other look the same but had darken strips added to the drawing. There was no reference to what these darkened areas were. I now know what this drawing is showing. The darkened areas are thin galvanized steel backing strips attached to the back of the azdel
boards where a sheet metal screw is used for attach points. I have the old counter tops and you can see the strips attached to the underside because the core of the counter tops will not hold to a screw.
I hope this helps to understand whats going on in the construction of our campers.
