OK a snake story. While living in Tampa (1974/1975) and stationed at McDill AFB I was driving one of the back base roads and in front of me going across 1.5 lanes ( road was not big enough for 2 lanes) was what looked like a fire hose. Got close enough to see it was a snake that I hit with a pick-up truck. Front and back tires too. Got out to see but, found nothing and with swamp on both sides of the road was NOT going to venture past the pavement. Had multiple encounters with several 6' rattle snakes and water moccasins while bass fishing. Loved Florida but man does it have a lot of critters.
Sounds like that was just an Anaconda.  No worry since they're non-venomous.   ;)

Except you can't eat the buGs and Florida has to take the prize for the most and worst.  Mosquitoes ruin the outdoors; give dogs heart worms such that one can't leave a dog outside for long for fear they'll get bit by the wrong blasted mosquito.  Then using shame-based methods, the vet profession soak us on expensive monthly heart worm preventative meds for the life of canine!

Florida bugs really tick me off.  Oh, I forgot the ticks and LIME disease!  THAT'S IT!  We're moving.

They are the only ones that can afford to pay the vets bills, have screened in pools and too old to hit the woods and worry about ticks. ;)

Alligator story:

We were camping @ Huntington Beach SP SC close to a swamp area at the campground. Over night, there were unusual noises outside for a little while sounding like loud grunting. Next morning our neighbors said they saw a large gator in our campsite.

And bears love dogs.  After enough attacks on 'Fido' out for a stroll with master in established Central Florida neighborhoods, a controversial bear hunt was soon declared and underway.  Although I've dug his music forever, I always have mixed feelings when Ted Nugent comes to town.   That said,  Fido should feel safe...for now.   :P
I just saw a commercial for a new dog food that said it included alligator.....  just pointing this out because it somehow seems like payback for all the fidos that lost their lives to alligators.

With great heaviness, even anger, I am posting this news in the hopes that folks from other parts of the country will take this thread and threat seriously.  There weren't suppose to be alligators in this Disney-made water body and therefore, no signs posted to warn unsuspecting vacationers.  Yet again, I'm yelling as loudly as I can!  In Florida, alligators are everywhere!  No water body is too small!  And younger, average size gators are dangerous.  Eyewitness reports are that this alligator was average size...maybe just 6 feet.

Disney again failed to protect the public, perhaps preoccupied with kicking its U.S. workers to the curb and replacing them with OTMs? Land of magical wonder and enchantment? HA! This mouse trap needs to be held accountable for this horror.

Pray for these parents who literally clung to their child while the baby was in the beast's jaws. How does a family return to Nebraska, their home, and resume their lives with such loss and the unthinkable as a last image of their child?

I've always believed that there is nothing so wrong and grievous that it cannot be forgiven.  However, I believe that I may be wrong.  Disney, this is unforgiveable.  You haven't enough money to cover the damages you've wrought.

We are at Fort Wilderness now and were here while they were searching for the boy. It is certainly a tragedy. However, Disney does have a very strong alligator control program. Over the 17 years my wife worked there she has reported them and saw them removed. We have seen them at the campground and everybody looks for them and knows they are there. When spotted, the trappers come and remove them.  They are permitted to kill them. The beaches are also full of No Swimming and stay out of the water signs. This occurred when the boy was walking and splashing in a foot of water 9:30 at night.

I know people responsible for this type of stuff and certainly work very hard to protect people in so many ways. They did a heck of a job detecting the terrorist at Disney Springs and reporting his activities there to the FBI a week before the shooting. The Reedy Creek fire department also does a great job. Millions of people come here every year and the fact that a death such as this makes the news is because is so rare and also a testament to the great job Disney does. They are human and cannot control miles of canals and acres of connected lakes.

Am reminded of WH spokespersons who sing the praises of this administration in their profuse efforts to protect the public from terror attacks.  This gov't. knew well the killer of 49 unsuspecting party-goers who died horrifically last weekend in Orlando.   Heck, this killer worked as armed security for a firm contracted by the DEPT. OF HOMELAND SECURITY!  FBI knew about this killer, yet 49 young souls perished leaving countless more with scars that may never heal.

And so Disney knew about a killer.  And DJSamuel confirms that Disney knew and maintains that everyone knew of a killer alligator presence...except one poor family from Nebraska?  Unless warned, how would folks from an area of corn fields ever suspect such a lurking terror?  After all, it was a Disney family movie night hosted waterfront on its fake beach that night, a beach made of tons and tons of sparkly white sand hauled in for the perfect magical illusion of paradise.

So then, the question begs asking, why not one warning sign indicating the presence of alligators?  Why only "NO SWIMMING" signs?  Might it destroy Disney's carefully crafted magical illusion?   Furthermore, why no sign warning of the warm water, brain-eating amoeba (naegleria fowler) that killed an 11 year old Disney guest in 1980
?  Why not warn about the costumed persons from foreign lands upon whose lap your child is sitting when visiting Disney?  Why under threat are U.S. Disney workers being forced to quietly train their foreign replacements?

Magical illusion or deadly deception, no one does it better than Disney.

And lest my point be lost, why was there not one sign indicating the presence of alligators before 2 year old Lane Graves perished leaving scars on his family that may never heal?  After 45 years, Disney is now posting them.  Good for Disney.

This is absolutely ridiculous. You are delusional and your post is totally devoid of facts. If I wasn't typing on my phone, I'd write a long response. But that's fine, it's not worth the effort or time replying in detail to this garbage.
