Second time out...

Just got back from our second trip out.  We ventured a little further from home this time to a lake a few hours from home.  I posted a few questions while out in the wild and really appreciate all the responses.  This forum is so great for people new to all of this.  Thank you again.

Here's a few pics.  The Toyota in the pic is a 2002 with 148k miles...it's been a great truck.  I recently installed Bilstein shocks and Air Lift 1000 on it to help get rid of the severe sag I was experiencing.  I also just put on the E-rated tires.  However, in about a year I may consider getting a Tundra.  Would love TV input though...

The last pic is me making burgers in my manly apron.

Hi,

Very nice!

We towed for a few months without a WDH or sway control as well. But we then installed an Anderson hitch. Generally made the ride allot more comfortable, reduced the bouncing and dramatically improved driving conditions in high wind.

With your TV mods I think you are ready to put some more miles on the Sequoia. Looks brand new!

Cheers,

Looks like a nice set up! I use a '97 4Runner to tow my 13QBB, and occasionally I also think about upgrading to something newer and larger. However, for me at least, it comes down to how often you really use the truck to tow with. I'm only able to get out maybe 6 or so times a year, and realistically the 4Runner does just fine once I added the Airlift bags...anything larger and I'd probably be tempted to tow faster and burn more gas then I already do. The older TV also helps rationalize keeping on top of maintenance and upgrades to the 4Runner, which I also use as my daily driver. At the end of the day, there are a lot more things I'd rather use that $50k cost of a new truck towards, so I keep chugging along with the 4Runner.

Looks great! Looks like the airlift system really helped a lot! You should be good to go now! Enjoy!

You know (and I might be wrong) I believe the shocks added some height and might be helping some as well.

I agree. If I did get one I'd look for a used one with about 40k miles and TRY to stick to the mid-20s if I hunted enough. We will see though.
