[p]Well I pulled the trigger on a new QS 6.0 with Off-Road Package, Rear Deck, and AC.  I've already learned that there is a dummy 15amp fuse installed that prevents the battery from being used until the dummy fuse is replaced with a new one, not provided by the dealership I might add.  Any other info or mods for a QS 6.0 Newbie?[/p][p]

First off, welcome!

My very first mod was attaching O Track cargo tie downs to the rear deck.  These are available in a variety of lengths and you can add clips if needed.  Just be careful when drilling as the trailer wires are running through frame.

The second mod was installing foam tiles on the floor.  Very inexpensive and easy to work with.  It will save you the shock of stepping barefoot onto a cold floor first thing in the morning.

Importantly, ensure that your "canvas" is conditioned properly.  Many people have complained that it leaks.  Mine leaked once and hasn't leaked since.

I am not sure what your dinette looks like but the one in my 8.1 is cheap and flimsy.  After building a new one, found that it was useless for me (along with the exterior table) so I leave them at home.

Welcome from another 6.0 owner (and a Jeep driver).  I recently added a zip-on awning and was glad that I did.  In addition to the shade, it kept the rain off the door and the large window next to the door.  Because of this, I was able to keep the window open during a rainstorm without getting any rain inside.  My 6.0 came with the fold-down couch and the table mounted on a pole in the floor.  The table takes up too much room for me so I always leave it at home.

Thanks for the tips!  I recall seeing a post on the O-Track cargo tie downs and thought it was a great idea, possibly your post Rob.  I will install a set and post my results...

And when I purchased my QS, I also ordered the awning.  The screen room was tempting but expensive. I was not sure how much use I would get from the screen anyhow.  Thanks again and keep the tips coming...

Take a look at L-track too. I used the "pucks".

I was looking at Northern Tool's web site since there is one local to me.  This does not look bad...

Cowfly -- if you look at this thread at the other Livin'Lite forum you'll see some handles I added to the tongue area of my trailer. They were all but useless on my small but mighty Camplite 11FDB. They might however be great on a QS-6:

Your trailer looks awesome by the way. I'm digging it.

Go get yourself a Top Snapper.  For $14 it is the best canvas/snap preserver ever invented. You won't need it often but it will keep the snaps on the canvas and help pull them into place.  Especially nice it you winter camp.
We added a cut to fit piece of indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot.  That aluminium floor is pretty thrilling when its 40 degrees out. Pull it out and hose it off when you get home. We've Jeeped out QS 6.0 all over the eastern US.
Enjoy!

Thanks everyone!  On my mod list is a floor covering, handle for folding the bed, the snap tool, and a bike/cargo rack.

i installed the tracks from Northern Tools and thought they turned out great!

I have a 2009 6.0 with rear deck and A/C.  It came with the L-bench interior, but I ordered the couch and base from Livin' Lite and converted to the newer interior.

Installed some 45 degree beveled edge L-Track to the rear deck on my camper shortly after I got the camper.  It's a good modification.

Replaced one of the breakers with a double breaker to add a new circuit for a ground-flault outlet that I installed to the left of the door in the left bottom corner of that wall, at the back of the camper.  I installed it very much like the power inlet connection and box.

Replaced the electrical outlet near the power box with one that has two 110 volt grounded outlets and two USB charging ports.  Very handy!!

I used two flat-screen TV mounts and a 4-foot cheap aluminum level to make an elevated mount for a 19" TV.  I mounted one of the TV mounts centered on the wall in front of the couch and attached the level to it so that the bottom of the level is on the floor and the mount on the wall just stabilizes it.  Then I attached the other mount on the top of the level and hung the TV on that.  It works great when camping during football season!

Added a piece of PVC pipe with caps on both ends just in front of the tires to store awning poles.  I typically use a Kelly Noah's Tarp 16 as an over-sized awning.  It requires about 7 poles.

Added an aluminum tool box to the rear deck to make an old-style trunk.  I bolted it to the rear deck and used straps to the L-Track to secure it and relocated the tag to the box.  It's quite handy.

Added a trailer hitch handle to the coupler.

Added adhesive weatherstripping just above the snaps to reduce the gap and hopefully keep more bugs out.  I'm not sure if that was worth it or not.

Used a scrap of carpet to add wall to wall carpeting.  This can be a mixed blessing, but it keeps feet off of the cold floor when it's cold outside.

I rewired the 12 volt electrical system because I didn't like the way they did it.  All of my connections are now done with terminal strips so you can see what goes where.

I think that's about all.

[p]Going camping and mountain biking in the 6.0 this weekend so I have added a few things since my last trip.  I will provide an update on my mods afterwards.  [/p][p]
[/p][ul type="disc"][li]During my last trip to the NC outer banks (camped at the state park on the sea side), my dog and I were eaten alive by bugs (No-See-Ums). So I have purchased a Thermacell, I have never used one but the reviews looked promising.[/li][li]I added Zipper pulls to the inside/outside of the door flap.[/li][li]I also added large carpet squares to the floor.  A local Dollar Tree had 20"x20"commercial carpet squares with thick rubber backs for $1.  These worked great and will not slide.[/li][li]I purchased a Honda 2000 generator to run the AC during the hot NC summers.  I have learned that the fan must be on low before the compressor is turned on to prevent from overloading the generator.  Once the compressor is running, the fan speed can be increase.  I'm assuming that the spike of the compressor with the load of the high fan speed it too great for the generator.  [/li][/ul][p]

Have fun in the mountains its predicted to be amazing weather this weekend!!!

Quick note about the Thermacell...it is a great product and I love mine, but like any other area wide bug repellant it wont work well in wind. Also buy a refill pack if you havent already. The pads with the repellant can get used up far quicker than you expect if you are using it all day/evening.

[p]As promised, my update on my recent modes after this past weekend's trip in the NC mountains. [/p][p]
[/p][p][strong]Mods:[/strong][/p][p][em]Honda Generator[/em] - The temps were very comfortable, actually a little cool at night for my taste, so there was no need to test the generator and AC system.  [/p][p][em]Zipper Pulls[/em] - The zipper pulls are a must for any Quicksilver owner.  If I had to complain about the QS design it would be the lack of a full door and those zippers.  The pulls allow you to quickly locate the zipper and zip/unzip with ease.  [/p][p][em]Thermacell[/em] - There were no bugs to speak of so the Thermacell was not used.[/p][p][em]Commercial Carpet Squares[/em] - The 20"x 20" Commercial carpet squares worked very well.  The thick rubber backing prevents the carpet from sliding and in turn prevents my Rubbermaid tubs and cooler inside of the QS from sliding.  Also, if one becomes stained, I replace a single square...  [/p][p]
[/p][p][strong]Issues:[/strong][/p][p][em]Door Latch[/em] - I have noticed that if something stored inside of the camper slides (during transport)  into the door latch (locked or unlocked) the door will open.  To prevent anything from striking the door latch during transport, I place my tool bag between the door and my cooler.  The bag sits below the height of the door latch and prevents anything from possibly sliding into the latch and opening the door.  Also, if something is against the latch locking and unlocking the door becomes difficult.[/p][p][em]Fuses[/em] - Each time I have used the QS, I've had to replace a 15 amp fuse.  I am not sure what is causing this and a trip to the dealership maybe required.  Any suggestions on troubleshooting this?  Thanks...[/p][p]

Others have reported similar problems. I believe the miswire results in the 15A fuse being used to feed the main 12V bus. Check out
