Banff national park Alberta for the Weekend

This was only our 3rd trip out in our 21RBS (nights 4 and 5), and the first with the new tow vehicle. It was only a 300 km round trip, mountain driving, a good test none the less.

We have a 2014 Ford F150 FX4 with the 3.5 EcoBoost and the Max Tow package, and were using a EZ2 round bar WD hitch.

I have to admit, having the computer on the truck is a great thing, according to it we averaged 17 L/100km (17 miles / gallon) which, I have to say, is pretty good for this rig, and remember, it was mountain driving. Traveling, it was rock solid at 100 km/h, no sway or bounce, something that was a handful with the old Chev Trailblazer we had.

All systems worked as expected, and the recent "Grey Water Tank" fix that was done was perfect, we went the whole weekend, didn't fill the grey tank (was full after 1 night before).

Banff, well, it's Banff which means "Boy ain't nothing for free", 2 nights, full hookups, $89 cdn, and that didn't include the 2 days for a park pass (normally $20 / day, but we had an annual pass). Still, a lot cheaper than the $200 and up a night for a local hotel. All that being said, Banff is a perfect place to go for those short trips, lots to see and do.

All in All, a great weekend. Now to start planning the week long trip for next month, just need a destination.

Sounds like a great trip. F150 did outstanding if you got 17 MPG. Heading out Saturday to pick up out 21BHS so we'll see what the RAM 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi does and I'll post back. Might cry that I did not spend the extra $7500 on the F150 Lariat I looked at before picking the Ram 1500 Laramie. Sometimes money talks louder then the brain.

17mpg in the mountains!  What are they doing to those F150's to get that kind of mileage?  We just returned from a weekend at the beach, which entails going up and through the Coast Range and back down the other side and averaged 11.5mpg with a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 and a 16 DBS. It's a 2009 with 30K miles and excellent shape. Has the mileage improved that much in the midrange pickups over the last few years?

That equals 13.8 Miles per Gallon (US). Still really good mileage.

I suddenly feel so much better. But I'll keep striving for that 17  :)

Banff was one of my parents favorite national parks and I hope to get there someday. If that camping fee was for both nights that's not too bad.  I'm impressed with the Ford's mpg, pulling a 21 into the mountains. Does that Ecoboost require premium gas?

I used an online converter, and it gave me the 17.

Wait, just looked it up again, that was imperial, my bad.

I don't convert Celsius to Fahrenheit either, same reason.
