Anderson is a great company with top notch customer service.  The hitch is guaranteed forever. Great hitch, even if it has some issues. Anderson made me a custom plate for my hitch and didn't even charge me. Great folks!!!

Oh well, I guess you have to click the link.

Not sure if this will work from my phone, but here is a pic of mine after about 5k miles. https://flic.kr/p/rXTq9K

Great hitch, and a great company to do business with. They made a custom plate for me for free because my stock plate was rubbing on the bottom of my 8" frame.  I've probably towed over 5k miles with mine and love it.

Campground in St. Augustine was called Indian Forest I believe and was just okay.
90 degrees today!  ;-| Yep.

VRV sure is nice looking; just love that color.  After the bike week crowd clears, if you're still in the area, let us know.  Perhaps we can meet you somewhere and show off the 'toys'.  Did the manufacturer do a good job on cargo door repair?

Have a safe journey, have fun and ditch the winter clothes for sure!   8-)
[p]Sorry to leave you all hanging, but I barely had internet really at the campground in St. Augustine.  Plus, I was way too busy visiting Family, playing tourist, etc. to get online.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Yes, ATC did a wonderful job repairing everything. They even picked up and delivered my VRV at no charge to me. :) [/p][p]
[/p][p]Yep, didn't need  winter clothes, and got to ride my Harley up and down the coast, so that was nice after a long, cold MO winter.

[p]Heading out tomorrow morning for a much needed 11 day Vacation. :) We'll stop in GA for some sleep then head onto FL day 2. Not a lot of plans, but taking my Harley, so we'll likely catch the last day or two of Bikeweek in Daytona. [/p][p]

QuickSilver Toy Haulers / First Trips with our Axxess 26
VRVINMO - You're very welcome. I believe the 8526 can be towed quite well with a half-ton, if we keep our expectations reasonable. It would be nice to get 18mpg all the time but at highway speeds, that frontal area just takes it's toll on economy. I am getting around 26 mpg average on my ecodiesel, almost 30 at 70mph. It's a great engine, with more torque than the hemi. pulling my axxess around town, it's got enough grunt at low end that I barely feel it pulling. But, with only 240 HP, expecting to charge up a mountain grade at 75 mph is not going to happen. As Clint Eastwood said ..."A man's got to know his limitations"
[p]Seems like a great truck. I love my Ecoboost too. My engine is definitely not a weak link. My concern is the payload rating on only 1199#.  If you ever actually weigh your tongue weight accurately, I'd love to know the results.[/p][p]

So glad you it's working out for you, and thanks for much for the follow up thread. I really don't like when people start threads, ask questions, get feedback, and you never hear the result. The 8526 is one I am considering and will pull it with my 1/2 ton F150, so I've very interested  in your situation. Thanks again.

General Q & A / Campground bathroom or camper bathroom?
February 14, 2015, 11:17:58 PM
Bought a camper with a bathroom for a reason. I use it and like it. My Wife and I have no problem showering one after the other and have plenty of hot water. We just take military type showers. No big deal.

General Q & A / report on my Andersen WD Hitch......
January 31, 2015, 09:46:16 AM

It is a great hitch and a great company. I'm surprised at only 4 threads though. It's been a while, but pretty sure I show at least 8 threads on my setup. Curious, have you measured tongue weight or the payload you're putting on the Ram?
The number of threads will vary depending where the brackets are placed on the frame. You could have the same tension, yet different number of threads.
Hmm, I'll have to think about that one, but wouldn't the instructions be the same for all frames? I don't have them with me, but I think the bracket installation instructions should be installed with the same chain tension regardless of frame and / or trailer.

I think I would be afraid not to use one. I like the chock especially when it holds the bike up by itself, so I can tie it down.
I put the kickstand down and put the straps on one at a time........very easy......like I said, I use two 2x6's under the bike to limit the excursion on the forks.....that helps to hold down the bike as well........the problem with chocks is that you have to secure them and I don't want to be limited to one location......suppose I only take one bike, or my Spyder.......with the appropriate strapping, the bike holds well.   we checked the bikes at every stop.....there was no movement at all.
Yea, in my first toy hauler I mounted chocks to the floor. Never again will I do that. Now I just put a rubber mat down. Place the chock atop the rubber mat. Put bike into chock. Tie down bike.  When I get to where I'm going, I pick the chock up, and put it in the truck bed. Easy and don't have to worry. I can put the chock wherever I want because it's not bolted or tied down.
