Camplite General Q & A / Annual maintenance checklists
August 14, 2015, 10:32:07 PM
Thank you for taking the time to reply.   I have all of the specs for my Dexter EZ Lube axles and it includes information on the brakes, etc., but I think I will take it to someone who has done this before.

Camplite General Q & A / Annual maintenance checklists
August 14, 2015, 07:30:43 PM
Does anyone have any suggestions for annual maintenance checklists?  I took a long trip (12000 miles) last year and want to start thinking about getting everything ready for next year. (This year I was busy moving and didn't get a chance to take it out much).  I have a 14DB with Off Road package.

I want to make sure that I don't have too many suprises on the road.  I was thinking that I probably need to have wheel bearings repacked.   Obviously, tanks need to be flushed and deodorized and check that everything is working with the plumbing, refrigerator and hot water heater.

I am not particulalry able to do things myself and thought about going to an RV dealer, but when I looked at the prices for their 45 point checklists, I thought I should try to figure it out on my own.

Any suggestions or links would be appreciated.

Camplite Travel Trailers / Queen Mattress Upgrade
February 04, 2015, 12:22:40 AM
I have a basic question about this entire mattress discussion.  My wife and I noticed, like others have commented, that the all (or mostly all) aluminum construction creates a lot of condensation in the trailer.  We use a "crystal" type dehumidifier in the trailer but still have lots of moisture in the a.m.  We have been concerned about whether our our mattress is acting like a wick and absorbing a lot of that moisture, leading to mold, etc.

I am sure this is true of trailers generally but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the significance of the problem and whether their are any solutions, short of periodic mattress replacement.  I think I saw somewhere that someone mentioned just using an inflatable mattress and scrapping the whole foam mattress altogether.

Thoughts?  Comments?

Thank you.

Thanks Antares 4141.  I never used Paint to resize but it worked great.

Here are 3 of the pictures.   Also uploaded to the Pinterest Board.

I posted a few pictures which might be of interest to the topic at hand:

These were taken at the factory in March 2014 and shows the frame, sidewall and roof.

If I knew how to use Pinterest it would be even more helpful.  The picture size limitation on this board makes it difficult to attach pictures.  Any suggestions?

Merlin,

Thank you for that information!

One other question, do you have problems opening the lid?  In other words, does it hit the orbital bow of the front of the trailer?

Camplite General Q & A / Best Covers for CampLites
January 20, 2015, 11:26:51 PM
I purchased an ADCO Tyvek Designer series and bought the Model 32839 which was designed for a 15-18 foot trailer.  This was a little big for my 14 foot (14DB) but I would rather have a bigger size than a smaller size cover.  I purchased on Amazon from Covers Direct.  Prompt service and better price than Camping World (even with the Good Sam discount).

I am not particularly impressed with the ADCO cover.  It has already gotten holes in a few places in our first year from the wind hitting various parts of the trailer, like the awning and the AC.  I don't expect to get more than 3 years out of the cover, but it is still cheaper than covered storage and definitely provides some protection.  I also purchased wheel covers since I live in Florida and want to protect the rubber on the tires from the UV.

I would recommend a cover and I highly recommend using wax or some other paint protection for your trailer.  If you find something better than the ADCO, I would appreciate knowing about it.  I couldn't find anything better than the ADCO without spending a lot of money for a custom cover.

Atttached is a picture of the ADCO Model 32839 cover on the 14DB.

New Members / Greetings from Central Florida

Thank you DJ.

Nice report and great pictures.

If I get ambitious, I will post a report.  We were out over 4 months and so we had a few issues, however, none were major and LL has been very helpful in addressing my concerns.  Still very pleased with our 14DB.  We had it loaded down with food and gear for months of travel and it pulled great.   Averaged 12.5 MPG with a full load.   Off Road package was very helpful and the trailer remained watertight through many a downpour.

Biggest takeaway from trip:  ask the locals about dispersed camping. Some of the best spots, free of charge.

After a long process of research trying to determine whether to get a Class A, B or C and what brand and type, last Spring my wife and I purchased a white 14DB, off road, black out.  Picked it up at the factory and glad we did. Got to see the build  process and enjoyed meeting with Don N at LL.

We took the 14DB on a 12500 mile trip this Summer from Florida to Montana and it confirmed for us that we need to do this several months out of the year.

We live in Central Florida and love the Western US, particularly Montana and Wyoming.

Looking forward to learning from all of the great Members and contributions.

Attached is a picture of our 14DB after the trip.  I wash and wax it often.

Merlin,

I like your setup and am trying to get an idea of what the exact size is of your box.  I have a 14DB with a Black Out package and wanted to mount dual 12v batteries just as you have with a black diamond box.   I have attached a link to a picture of my trailer tongue which has some crude dimensions noted.

Would you kindly advise me of the box brand and dimensions please?

Thank you.

Matt
