Leak found!

So after days of snow, freezing rain and regular rain I discovered a leak. It has to be coming from somewhere on the roof or where the roof and awning join towards the rear of the TT. The water comes down the inside wall of the upper right cabinet in the bathroom, and then gravity takes it down into the outside storage compartment - which, of course, is right below the bath cabinet.

Roof inspection went great, no sight of sealant issues anywhere?

Any ideas?

No specific ideas, but a couple of thoughts. One is to check the entire roof, not just the area near the leak. The water could be coming in quite a bit away and running across the ceiling aluminum until it finds a way to go down. A dealer I talked with who has sold at least a few Campsites said he's only seen 2 "regular" spots to check for leaks. The seam where the roof bends to fit the curved front of the trailer is, in his words, an ugly seam, with the aluminum having to bend 2 ways at once. He automatically re-caulks that seam before he delivers a new Camplite. The other area is where deep snow builds up on the roof A/C unit and then when it melts, seeps in the edges under the flange.

Had two different sources of leaks on our CampLite.

The first leak was getting by the running lights on the top & front of the TT. Removed the running lights and installed RTV silicone between the running lights and camper skin. That fixed the leak and went on to seal every running light on the TT.

Second leak was coming from the seam where the roof joins top of the wall. It had been sealed at the factory with a Lap Type Sealant where the roof joins the wall, but found a small gap where the factory missed a spot and was not sealed. Sealed over existing sealed areas with Dicor Roof Lap Sealant, purchased from local RV dealer, applied two years ago and no leaks since. We had lots of ice last week and about 5" of snow this week, checked the camper interior and everything is dry.

Other folks here have had the same issue. Have seen photos here, but I did not take photos of this repair.

Had the same issues as mentioned above, A joint where the roof and wall meet had a gap in the sealant.  Last winter snow on top piled up around the AC vent on the roof and leaked in through there.

Once I cleaned up the water, I never had a second concern. Now had those cabinets been stapled together with wood trusses and pressboard panels, I'd be crying the blues and worried sick!!!

Besides, with RVs it's not "if" you're gonna get a leak - it's "when". That's why we paid the big bucks for aluminum.

Glad you found the leak!!!!!!!!  It's an easy fix.  

Our running light leak appeared during a large storm while camping. Used some 100MPH tape (NASCAR Term) over the light until getting back home. Probably took 1 or 2 hours to seal all of the running lights, no issues since.

Always carry a step ladder & tape, since that issue.

Good thing about LivinLite, when you get a leak & fix it, no damage occurs because of the aluminum construction .

Exactly why we did choose the LL over the R-Pod. All the other pros and cons pale in comparison. Glad it was an easy fix. Seems like a close inspection is in order here.

This was the thread for the leak I found.  While it looks like the leak here has been found, it would be wise to check the lap sealant.  Since I applied a good coating of Dicor self leveling lap sealant, I've had no leaking at all, including a lot of driving in the rain on the way to Arizona and home.

I plan to go over all of the sealed lines with an eagle eye this week. Also, if the moderator wants to move this over to *Ask The Factory* that's fine with me.
