Unexpected camp night

Grew up in Monongahela, PA. Worked at the Bettis Atomic Lab until '76 then moved to central TX. Wound up in Central FL in 1990, been here ever since.

Westinghouse Bettis was one of my customers when I worked for HP.  HP transfer brought me to Atlanta in 93.

The ice storm knocked power out for about 24 hours.  I got cold and bored.  Lite off the generator and stayed in the camper.  Nice & toasty.  Now I really cant wait for the 1st true camping trip.

Have lived in eastern NC most of our lives so we're no strangers to prolonged power outages. As such, we've maintained portable generator for years. Certainly one of our justifiers for buying the CL was the ability to run away, have a ready place to stay, return home and live in comfort right here in our own driveway after hurricanes, northeasters, etc. In this part of the world, it's not "if" it's gonna happen again.. but "when".

We plan to take the Honda 3oooi with us, on our travels.

Fortunate our Yamaha 2400 runs our CampLite 13,500 BTU AC unit OK. The Honda 3oooi  is large enough to supply power for any of your camping needs.

We have a Honda 3500 Gen-Set to run the well, lights, refrigerator, electric blanket, infrared heater, and microwave (not everything at the same time unless I want to do a smoke test  :-[) when we lose power. Had an electrician to install a gen-set control on the house wired into the house electric for when we plug in and run the gen-set.

Have owned the little Honda for years and it takes care of the house just fine. Of course you have to run it through the breaker panel and select circuits as needed. I've already performed a few full generator test runs with the 21RBS and the 3oooi, running everything that require power at the same time and it performs like a champ.

Agree on the polished aluminum look... Oh yea, love it. I was with NAVAIR for 36 years, both military and civilian.

 My aerobatic/spin instructor was a former Naval Aviator that flew F4U Corsairs & early jets off of carriers.

He had a saying:

"Straight & Level Makes me Queasy"!  8-)

I was a Jet Engine Mech in the USN 1973-77, USS Independence was my runway. I worked on the A-7E (the Corsair II),  the F4U was a bit before my time. Navy fighter and attack pilots have cajones... a little crazy too

[/quote]That's a Nice looking deck & gen-set. In one of the other threads someone here used aluminum diamond plate box for a battery that looks really Good.

If I remember correctly, you have an aircraft maintenance background, it would look really good with an aluminum skinned box over aluminum angle with solid AN rivets.

My last command was Fleet Readiness Center (FRCE), MCAS Cherry Point, NC, you might recall the older acronyms as NADEP or NARF?
