Camp flashlight

I bought a couple Duracell 1000 lumen flashlights at Costco.  ($15)  Man they are bright and at $15 one goes in the CL.

Some great flashlights to keep in the trailer are some Cree units 7W 300LM Mini CREE LED Flashlight Torch Adjustable Focus Zoom Light Lamp   Look them up on Amazon found them for as little as 3 and change with free shipping. Not perfect but good and cheap.

Costco recently went from the 3-AAA cell to the 4-cell AAA units, which are noticeably brighter. I can't speak to battery life. They are also a touch longer, for no apparent reason. Still compact.

For general purpose lighting when puttering around at night I recently discovered this lighted cap. Puts light in just the right place, leaves my hands free, and is comfortable.

I agree with Merlin, for general purpose lighting, you can't beat a LED hat or headlamp.   Mandatory gear for setting up for those late arrivals at the campground.

I got my dad one of those 1000 lumen flashlights for christmas... man are those bright!   You could duct tape it to the hood of your truck if you lost your headlights!  Maybe a little too bright if you have close neighbors in the campground.

I have a cap pretty much exactly like that from Gander Mountain. Very handy to always have around and to keep your hands free.

The caps are great, but for me there is no replacement for a good LED headlamp. I have a Petzl headlamp that has seen many years of action from my adventure guide days: http://www.rei.com/product/737855/petzl-tactikka-xp-adapt-led-headlamp
That little light is amazing and with the ability to move the light off the head strap and onto other mounts it makes it that much more flexible.

You can get quite a bright headlamp, and my favorite (from REI) has a dimmer so you can dial it up or down.[/p][p]

yeah my tactikka has three steady brightness modes, a flashing mode, and a temp/push button boost. Combine those with the ability to switch between spot and wide beams, and a choice of colors to protect your night vision, makes it a perfect match for just about any situation. Oh and its weather proof so there is no concern about using it out in the rain.
