Kept bending the rod for raising the jacks on my QS 8.1 which made it hard to jack them up.Had a large old Kobalt flat blade screwdriver that I had messed the tip up,took it and ground the blade end down on my bench grinder so that it would fit the hole in the jack and tried it. I now have a rod that works well and did not bend, plus it has a cushioned grip.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one doing this. In fact I've found I use a large screwdriver for just about everything during setup or take down. Heck I've even used it to hammer in some anchors :)

[p]I lost my "rod" the first year I camped. I always carried some large 12" landscape spikes I sometime use for anchors and now I have several replacement "rods" the work quite well. They bend a little, but I can always get more at the HDepot.[/p][p]For most of my screen room anchoring needs, I have given up hammering and pulling, and started screwing. I use a rechargeable hand drill fitted with a socket and use 6, 8 or 10 inch long Spax-brand lag screws I get at HDepot. I much prefer screwing and unscrewing to hammering and pulling. :o[/p][p]
