[p]Hi everyone, there is a problem with the leds light installed on the camplite with the Ford Escape 2014, it has something to do with the low amperage load of the LED. It still work but it doesn't connect to the message center of the escape and the lights have a slight blinking in it especially when you stop the car the trailer led light start blinking, it's still working but the car think that there is no trailer. The way I fixed it is that I bought an adapter that has some resistor in it and it fixed the problem! There is a TSB to repair this problem but I heard that it would remove you all features like the anti-sway control, so it's better to use an adapter with some resistor![/p][p]
[/p][p]Here is the link of the adaptor I bought [a href="http://www.etrailer.com/p-C57003.html"]http://www.etrailer.com/p-C57003.html[/a][/p]

Glad you fixed it. I'm a little confused why Ford would create a vehicle in 2014 that is incompatible with LED lights. I might expect that from a 10 year old car, but pretty much every trailer I've seen these days is using LED lights in some capacity.

I should also mention for the ones that have an escape with the factory tow package they only install a 4 pin, I had mine changed for a 7 pin so there is probably another adaptor for 4 pin

Hi Ed, I have no problem towing the 13QBB with my Escape. I never went to a scale to weight it but in my mind I believe that i don't exceed the weight. I wouldn't go to a bigger model, there is a guy on this forum towing a 14DBS with his Escape but i don't think it's a good idea. You should be fine with the 13QBB. The only problem will be with the led lights.

I have a 2015 model, but I bought it in 2014 and it has some things missing from the real 2015 model, but not much. There is someone on this forum that as a 2013 13QBB. I think the 2013 13QBB floorplan is a bit different, and it has a smaller refrigerator (I think). In my opinion the newer model worth more because the floorplan is better. Or maybe I am mistaken and the different floor plan is on the 2011 or 2012 model I am not sure when it changed, can someone help me here?

So back to that Ford Escape.... We just purchased the 11FK which is under 2000 lbs dry. Have been looking at a number of the SUVs but hadn't considered the Escape. Sounds like though with the tow package you all are pulling fine the heavier 13QBB? Any thoughts, concerns, comments on the pulling with the Escape?
Thanks,

gnies

I am doing fine with the escape it's a really good SUV. With a 11FK you will be fine, as long as you buy the Escape with the factory towing package sometime they are hard to find with the factory towing package, anyway at my local dealer the only one that had them was some titanium model so I had to order mine from the factory because I wanted a SE model. They offered to install a hitch but I prefer having the factory one and it said in the manual that you can only tow up to 3500 lbs if you have the factory tow package

Does that have the 3.0 V6? Our Sienna has the 3.3 V6 and appeared to be working pulling it (we used to pull a Coleman Sunvalley popup). I think with the height we are getting more windblock. It looks like the Sienna and Escape have about the same horsepower. Hadn't even considered the Escape but now you have me thinking!

Appreciate the information.

There is no V6 on the new Escape it's a Ecoboost 2.0L motor and the towing capacity is 3500lbs with the factory tow package

Wow! I'm impressed that they can still have that capacity on the smaller engines. Thanks for the info. Time for a visit to our local Ford dealers it sounds like.

The ecoboost engines are monsters for towing. The 3.5 liter in my truck is rated to tow a tad over 12,000 lbs.  It's crazy.

I thought I'd add that although Paul hasn't had issues towing in the areas he uses his (mostly New Brunswick, Canada) someone else might in an even more hilly area (say the Rockies) or if your favorite song is "I can't drive 55" by Sammy Hagar - the Red Rocker. Remember kids -- Speed Kills. Also, how windy it is where you tow makes a huge difference. Where I live it can be extremely windy - and although my Camplite 11FDB is relatively small I really do need a lot more tow vehicle than the stats would suggest.

That said, I believe you really can make do with a borderline tow vehicle if we'd just slow down and let practically everyone else pass you. I find that hard to do but it is far easier on your tow vehicle and you'll burn less gas. You'll be more relaxed too and maybe even have more enjoyment.
