I'll add that it really is pretty easy to use a solar panel that can provide enough juice to keep the battery charged.  If you put the panel on a longish cord and park strategically you can keep the panel in the sun and the trailer in the shade.

I just saw an ad today for Polaris inverter generators.  They sell a 1000w for $650 and 2000w for around $850 street.  The specs look good. Their 3000w jumps considerably in price to around $1700.
