[p]I am looking at this:  [a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndDbdhY7Noc"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndDbdhY7Noc[/a]  The two versions are sold here [a href="http://www.campingworld.com/category/central-vacuum-units/1327"]http://www.campingworld.com/category/central-vacuum-units/1327[/a] along with the Dirt Devil version.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Which of the two versions do you guys think would be best for the Camplite models? One requires you to cut a large hole to permanently mount the unit, while the other has you install mounting screws to slide the unit on to and is portable for other uses.  The latter sticks out much more.  I am thinking of the portable one under the lower flip up bunk if I go that route.  What kinds of challenges do you see in installing either one?  [/p]

Is there an outlet under the lower bunk? That would be the only problem I could see with the installation. I use one of these:

A fraction of the cost with no installation and easy to move around.

[p]Yes, I am putting an outlet there. I will certainly consider your link when it comes time to actually make the final decision.  Any advice though on which one you would recommend if going that route?  On the portable unit, I have seen it as low as $168.00.[/p][p]

I don't know enough about either to make a recommendation. One thing to consider is that the lower bunk wall is just Azdel, so you might need to do some reinforcing to mount the flush vac. Other appliances in the rig have it. The converter is attached directly to aluminum framing, and smaller things like switches, etc have a piece of sheet metal behind the Azdel to give it something to grip.

Did not think of that.   May need to just get a more "normal" vacuum like yours then.

Maybe its because i'm in a different mindset with a pop up, but i dont see a need for a vac when a small broom would do in the majority of situations. Seems to be more weight and electrical considerations than its worth. I can see the appeal for convenience but we are still camping afterall :)

Sean,

You have to realize Funpilot is just stopping by here on his way to a 50' Diesel MH with built in washer/dryer and hot tub.  :D   :D

I am going to have an Alaskan Malamute venture with us.  They just might be at the top of the pyramid for shedding hair. It is amazing how much hair we can get off of her when we brush her, let alone what we vacuum up at home.  So, we may have an "over the top" vacuuming need, but there are always more than one way to address it.  Right now, I am guessing that we might want to vacuum more than once a day and that is why I am looking at all of my options, including a central vacuum.  So far, the advice I have gotten here as part of the feedback, has educated me immensely. Remember, I will be getting the 28BHS, which should have more vacuuming needs.

You are in deep trouble. You're going to need either a smaller dog, a lower maintenance wife, or a much larger checkbook. Maybe all three. :P.

Let us know when you get a delivery date promise.

I still like the wife, I really like the dog, and the checkbook is no longer growing.  I am screwed.

I actually still use a little hand broom and dust pan most of the time even though I have the portable vac. The vac is only for tougher situations like sand or food stuck in hard to reach places. It's also really handy for longer trips when we need to vacuum the inside of the car. My kids manage to get crumbs in every crevice of their car seats.

I usually take a shop vac to the rig when we get home and just try to manage the sand and dirt with the broom while we are away. I like the vac as an option for longer trips, and I'm sure with a larger rig it wouldn't be an issue. I also like the 12v option since its easy enough to run on the battery when needed.

I also completely understand what you're saying about the kids and crumbs getting everywhere. I swear there are times my daughter pulls something out of her car seat like she is a freak'n magician. I dont know where she puts it all :)

1. I'll see your Malamute and raise you 2 Elkhounds.

2. Stop brushing the dog in the trailer.

3. Or, seriously, send the pup to the groomer mid-week before your weekend trip.

4. We carry a broom and dustpan for the necessaries during the trip. When I get home, I "sweep" it out with a leaf blower. No joke.

[/p][p]One more piece of trivia:  I also have a DW who keeps an immaculate home. I am sure that obsession will carry over to the trailer.  Not sure she could wait until we got home to blow it out.   But still researching.  [/p][p]
