hi i've used my QS6 a few times and the wind makes the flapping so noisy it's difficult to sleep.  and if unattended in wind my bimini poles slid to the sides almost causing the canvas to collapse.  any way besides duct tape to stop them from moving?

oh and any idea on the weight of the lid of the camper?

thanks,
kellye

Kelkat, I wish I could help but I have never had this problem. I have been in some pretty strong winds but my QS 6 has never 'flapped". The weight of the lid is definitely a chore especially if like me, you are opening alone. I have straps around mine to hold the mattress in place. They help somewhat but still quite a load.
I will watch this thread to see other responses.

I'm sorry but I've never had my 10.0 flap either. I've been through some rough adorns and plenty of wind with no movement. If the bars are spread out and I'm not sure I see how they move on you.
As for the weight I'm relatively young and I don't have a problem opening each bunk alone with brute strength. I know they can be a bit cumbersome but I just don't find the to be all that heavy.

I don't have any experience in  a 6.0, I have a 10.0. I believe my tent is to tight.

I'm always on these boards reading them. I have never heard anyone complain about sliding bars, flapping tent, or a case where the tent almost collapsed.

I'm thinking something is missing procedure or parts when setting up. Maybe set it up and take video of problem and someone here can identify  the issue.

Good luck

Kybrowns brings up a good question. When you setup your tent, is it tight? Mine is very tight. When I hook the Bimini poles, I always connect them with the opening downward. I have never known the correct way but the friction against the tent keeps them from moving.  I know it sounds silly but are you snapping all the snaps on the tents when up. I assume you are.

I will use age to respectfully disagree with Sean. When I was his age, I stacked 200 lb. bus batteries for a living through college. Then the top would be no problem, now forty years later, it is much more of a burden. I admit to being guilty of adding about 25 lbs. of foam mattress to the lid and whenever it becomes too much, I will be storing it in the camper, not strapping to the top.

My 6.0 didn't flap in the storm last night. The wind gusts were pretty strong. My tent was loose only until wet and dried the first time. Now it is snug and tight.

I see in your photo you posted Feb 11, 2016 that the stretcher bars between the bimini bars aren't installed. That would be the simplest solution  to your tenting flapping. As others have noted, no one else has had this issue. Another thought might be your replacement tenting is either too big, or the snaps were installed too loosely. When installing the spreader bars I have to clip them to the bimini bars on an angle and then slide them into final position, the tenting is that tight.
