Bathroom door height extension

I am 6'2 and have hit my head for maybe the last time on our bathroom door header, kids keep asking me why I have a red stripe on my head. I have now decided to remove the 2-3 inches of material above the door and move the door frame up if possible. I see that several owners had this removed before taking delivery; my question has anyone removed the excess material and moved the door frame up after taking delivery?  I do not care if there are a few extra inches of space on the bottom of the door. It appears to be a fairly simple task but looking for that one beware comment  from anyone that may have taken on this project. This project was down the list until our recent short trip with the grands and I was scolded for unsuitable language around kids after yet another encounter with the door header!
Any "How To" comments are certainly appreciated.

If you're ok with space under the door (which there already is), you should be OK with space ABOVE the door.

So, just remove the cross piece that runs across the top, pop out the azdel, and if you feel really motivated you can reinstall the "lintel" (it's not really a lintel) up close to the ceiling. Or, throw it up on a shelf in your garage with all the other spare parts. It's not structural.

As a "temporary" fix, I sliced a section of round closed cell foam insulation 1/2 through and stuck it on that sharp frame edge at the top. Now when I hit my head, it doesn't hurt.

Well that is a very good short term solution, I will definitely do that before our next trip if I do not get the time to make the change.

As a temporary solution you could try some Duck Tape too. It is yellow with big black letters that spell DUCK!

When we first looked at the Camplites that ceiling bathroom height was a deal breaker for us. Like you, I had issues hitting my head. Luckily we were able to have this changed as part of our modifications that we requested. I am sure you will be able to do this after the fact. Sure makes a big difference. Maybe the picture will help?

Thank you,the pic does help. My door has a frame around it including the top,  I was just going to raise the frame after removing some of the Adzel wall. It does not bother me if there is a larger gap at the bottom or top. I am betting the ceiling material is one large section or piece that will still be in- tact after the wall part is removed and my MOD should look similar to yours after completion. This is now number one on the MOD list!

The opening dimension is now a little more than 73 and 1/2 inches. The opening at the bottom of the door is now higher but this is no problem, the door bottom picture is a little dark but you get the idea. This entire project took about 3 hours, actually spent a lot of time getting tools rounded up. I have a craftsman plunge cut tool and this was great using a wood/metal blade to get the Adzel and one-inch aluminum tubing. It actually took longer to cut the small trim pieces and attach. Anyway, I can now stand in the doorway barefooted and not hit my head.
