2011 16 QBB Sharp Corners on Cabinet Doors

Hi, I have always tried to keep away from the cabinet doors when open. The corners are very sharp. I cut my head on the last trip. Anyone know a good way to repair this ? Grind the corners smooth?

You answered your own question. I took a file to all the corners of the doors and gently rounded the corners. This was one of the first tasks I did after buying the trailer. I then took a black felt marker pen and touched up the raw aluminum, because I'm a little neurotic.

Thank you. Did you take about a 1/4" off ? Did you round the top and bottom corners on all the doors just for symmetry ? I have mine at work and could use a air grinder and a sandpaper flapper wheel. The only thing is fillings but I guess I will have to clean them out after. Or is it easy and fast to do with just a file ?

I used a file and only took off the sharp points, maybe 1/16th of an inch in most cases. You really can't tell by looking. I also used the permanent marker trick. The corners can still poke me, but not to bring blood like before.

I started filing them / rounding them off today. The file works the best. Only takes a few minutes per corner. It looks fine and a lot safer.

In addition to filing down the sharp corners a bit (which I still need to do myself), has anyone tried or considered putting some thin edge guard moulding on the bottom of the cabinet doors?  I was thinking something like this http://www.amazon.com/UNIVERSAL-protection-CHEVROLET-CHRYSLER-CADILLAC/dp/B00HNKYD0I/ might provide some extra protection but I wasn't sure if it would interfere with the doors closing?

Happy Trails...[/quote]We share the same neurosis, I did the exact same thing. I'm still hurting myself though, so now I'm thinking about putting a blob of sugru on each corner.

I rounded all the corners today on all the doors top and bottom inside and outside. I rounded them off pretty good so they definataly won't injure as easily. They are not sharp anymore. I don't think they need any corner guard now.

Did you round them off and they can still injure ? On my old trailer with wood doors I stood up on time into the corner and cut my head open.

i stepped up through the door and caught my head on the lower corner of the cabinet door on our vrv...i was highly irate to say the least.  the open cabinet door is perfectly positioned just above your sight line.  it put 2 deep cuts into my head just above the hairline.  any worse and it would've needed stitches

[/quote][p]I think it is more about not getting impaled and sliced versus not getting injured. Blunt force concentrated on two dulled .050" edges spaced .25" apart can still do a fine job at firing up the pain receptors and can leave quite a mark.[/p][p]
[/p][p]I see it as basic training. After a few encounters with the corners we are supposed to be alert. The rounded corners saves a trip to the ER but there is no substitute for best practice...close the doors immediately. If others are with you, watch their 6 o'clock. This from a guy that has needed butterflies on the scalp. [/p][p]

I did a fine job on my big toe while wearing sandals when my husband did not close a cabinet door beneath the jack knife sofa. Lesson learned. Now all cabinets are closed and FASTENED. OR ELSE!

Try these, I glued them on. No more sharp corners and the brass looks ok with the black cabinet trim.

Good idea but I bet they make aluminum or chrome ones too. I think I will google to see. Thanks for the idea.
