I know this has been an issue for us. I just found out that if you are an Amazon Prime member you have access to unlimited "cloud" storage for pictures.  I tried it today and it's pretty slick and  a nice perk for Prime members.

So, I am a Prime member and I can store pictures there. But how to transfer a picture to the board?

I tried but could not get it to do anything. Could not get it to copy so no way to paste.

Same old procedure to paste the "picture location" into your post.  Just another place to store your photo's (free)

Thanks Shovelhead. I want to use Prime for this and didn't find the way to do it. Your pics disappeared though. Is this a glitch or did you remove them?

[font size="3"]I think the PB software is looking for a .jpg extension in the link. I also think the storage sites like Flickr and Photobucket are looking for a true .jpg or equivalent file before accepting an upload. As a test I tried uploading an Excel file by changing the .xlsx extension to .jpg. It's an old trick used to fool email blocking software. It didn't work. The storage site came back with an "unsupported" or "image size could not be determined" error. [/font]

Back to PhotoBucket for now.

I usually use Photobucket, but am trying Imgur.  Here is a test.

Trying again, using the sizing feature in Imgur.  In all case, I am using Direct Link and then the "Insert Image" function of the board.

A fellow on a flying forum gave me the head's up on how to link to a Google Photos image.

Instead of copying their provided link, or the address in the address bar, just right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Address" (on a Mac - I imagine Windows is similar).

Then paste that link between image tags.

I complained there was no was to select image size, and he said if you just resize the window before copying, it resizes the link.

For example:

[img style="max-width:100%;" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/oJckiNU1Sgbo8cMPveBcRvyHxPWEv4X5Otp__DcwgLI7=w392-h163-no"]

You can also look at the link you've pasted, and type in the width you want.

Pretty cool! And with the many ways to search for images, it should make getting your hands on the right one that much easier!

BTW, It's taken me about a week to upload the 19,000 images I exported from iPhoto, but I'm in the home stretch!

Photobucket allows you to set the custom size of the image you want to post and does it for the whole album.[a href="http://s304.photobucket.com/user/bvabob1/media/Our%20New%20Camper/image.jpg1_zpsggodue2v.jpg.html"]

o[/a]f course photobucket is a link back to your entire album so that is an issue in itself if you have stuff you don't want to share.

I do believe I'm going to be shifting away from iPhoto and Flickr and using Google Photos as my go-to online photo repository. Took over a week but now all 19,000 of my iPhoto photos are there.

So far, nothing not to like - unless one is concerned about Google having access to their photos.

On my iPad, grabbing a link is now easy from the Google Photos site - (in Safari - not so easy, if even possible, from their app).
