In the middle of the night the noise began . . .

Because of the noise coming from those late-night partyers several campsites down I had trouble getting to sleep. After much tossing and turning, finally, I was able to doze off.  It was the scratching sound and the rustling of dried leaves outside my pop up that startled me.  The noise was persistent and was getting louder.  This had never happened before- a wild animal was trying to get access to my camper!  The noise was getting closer and I quickly did a mental inventory of anything close at hand that I might be able to use to defend myself.  I had nothing.  The roll of paper towel seemed ineffective.  The best line of defense that my groggy mind could decide on was to yell at the animal to scare it away.  I tried to muster up a loud, blood-curdling scream, but in my frenzied state nothing came out!  Finally, from the innermost depths of my soul, I was able to blurt out a "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!".  It was at that moment, that I actually woke up.  The entire "attack" was a dream.  The only thing that was real was my cry- the meaning of which was intended to be scare away predators, but in actuality yielded another response.  The partyers making the noise must have felt that my scream was directed at them.  They quieted down and I was soon resting peaceably.

too funny...the old "subconscious" d fense >:D  you should post a warning sign of "unexplained night terrors". that would probably move the party further away... (rofl)
