[/p][p]Since the Casitas have aft sleeping the genny in the front makes sense. Not so much for Camplites. Have you considered building an enclosure as I describe above?
[/p]
Well not yet - but we do often get asked for some sort of a 'cover' to go over the gennies when under way. (not for running)
Personally I think it would be fun to make one out of carbon fiber and kevlar but it would be rather expensive and time consuming to make.
My vision of what you are looking for would have a fixed back/top (one piece folded) and your sides/front hinged at the bottom.
It would look quite nice in aluminum diamond tread-plate..
In reality we don't have time/resources to devote to this right now - but we will squirrel the idea away and keep watching this thread to see what you come up with
[p]I really like the CF idea. It would work well with a locking device such as yours. The weight of materials would be where we want them, in securing the generator instead of simply covering it.[/p][p]
[/p][p]It's my intent to have the sides swing upward to form some awning area for wind driven rain and snow. The three sides going just short of horizontal to maximize air flow and minimize eddies. The top fixed, as you say, because it's propane converted. Although it can still be run on petrol I see no need to provide access to the gas cap. If so, I'd attach the extended run gas tank that I made to it externally.[/p][p]
[/p][p]It's obvious I'm not concerned with noise other than placement away from the sleeping area. Some enclosure solutions I've seen attempt to deaden sound. Some seem to work fairly OK and some seem to amplify the lows...like a Chicano boom box would. It's worth noting that Honda has simply modified the exhaust to produce more lows as they are harder to hear. But they can be felt real well, hence the rear bumper mount. Not assuming you, Jim, did not know this. Just rounding out the thought process is all...[/p][p]
[/p][p]I think if someone was to build this they would come, so to speak.
