Some Lights Not Working in the 16DBS

I'm slowly slogging through testing all of the systems in our new 16DBS. Discovered yesterday that all the "livingroom" lights are not working. The ones over the bed, over the sink area, and in the bathroom are fine.

Though I'm making a list of items for the dealer to fix, does anyone recognize a pattern in these non-working lights that would suggest an easy fix I should try first?

Our 21BHS has a single switch right by the entry door that controls all of those "living room" lights.

Might yours have one as well that you're missing?

The lights over the sink and crapper are not controlled by the master switch. I dunno about over the bed, never tried. Would make sense for those to also be independent.

A number of us have had an issue where there were aluminum shavings in the light fixture and that kept the light from operating properly.  It's pretty easy to open up the fixture and check for that, if you find any just vacuum it out.

The switch by the door was turning on an outside light, but I didn't think it might be connected to those inside as well.  I'll investigate all and let you know what I find out.

Kath, the switch for the living area lights might be on the outside of the lower cabinet by the sink or cooktop, on the side of the cabinet. Hope this helps.

[p]Just keep mashing buttons until something happens. One of them makes the wall move. One makes the faucet go [em]rumble-rumble-blurt. [/em]One makes a bad machine under the bed go[em] tic-tic-tic-whroooooffffffff[/em], and the last is the overhead light master switch. If one of them appears to do nothing, that's the overhead light master switch, and you just either turned it on or off. Try the toggle on one of the overhead lights. If it still doesn't go on, put the nothing switch in the other position and re-check.[/p][p]

[font size="3"]Kath,

The "master" switch for the overhead lights should be low and near the door and maybe reachable without climbing all the way in. I can't get to my CL right now to see how it's marked. To find it first turn on the ceiling fixtures by pushing the rocker switches on each fixture to one of the ON positions. The fixtures rocker switches are usually ONE/OFF/BOTH . After you have turned the fixtures on try turning on any switch near the door that you haven't identified to a function. No need to try water pump, slide, outside light, etc. SOMEBODY WITH A 16DBS should jump in here.

Too late to go crawling around outside now. I'll take a look first thing in the morning.

It'll be the same place as on ours, the switch is on the cabinet just below the countertop to the right as you enter the trailer. Reachable and seeable from outside.

It's obvious from your description that the slider models are wired much differently than our non-slider. Going by your description we only have one other fixture. That being at the entry door.

Ours has the master switch where others describe it to be. It controls ALL interior lights except the bathroom. Wish I could be more help knowing all the while I have been no help at all.

MYSTERY SOLVED FOR ALL FUTURE 16DBSers!!!!

So, thanks to all of the great detectives here, I have found the master light switch in the 2014 DBS. It is, as predicted, right inside the door, on the sink cupboard panel, just inboard of the outlet. With the dark Azdel, you don't even notice it's there, though I guess you'd get to it eventually by process of elimination. Thanks for saving me the time!

If anyone is feeling creative and wants to philosophize about why there is a master switch to begin with, please feel free to share. Okay, I'll go first:  if you're boondocking in the woods and it's totally dark, you don't want to enter your camper unless you can make sure there isn't a bear in there. Or maybe a snake. Or a bad guy. So, you need to be able to reach in and turn on a pre-switched-on light (which you so masterfully left on when you last exited the camper), instead of stepping in a foot and reaching up to turn on a light. It's the little things that make life so much safer.
