[/div][div]Hi everyone, I am reposting here as this may be a more appropriate place.

[span style="font-size:10pt;"]One incentive for buying my tiny trailer was to be able to travel with my little rescue cat, Fay, more affectionately known as Stinky. When I leave her alone at night, she sits by the front door window awaiting my return and will not sleep. She and I are currently camping out at home every night just to become accustomed to the experience. The first night she ran up and down my back like I was Interstate 5 at rush hour. Then I figure out that she just wanted to look out the windows at either end of the bed at the same time, and I was the shortest path between two windows . Hence, the blinds were shut, problem solved. After a few nights, things are beginning to settle down. It would be valuable  to hear from other cat owners about their feline rv travel experiences. FYI, before we hit the open road, I do plan to get her a collar with her name and my cell number engraved on a plate, just in case. She has a microchip embedded as well. She is an indoor only cat.

I too would love to hear from campers who do it with their cat.

My wife is adamantly opposed to the idea. We take our dog along routinely, but not the cat. Our cat has its front claws removed so is strictly a house cat.

I can see it working by keeping the cat on a leash during daylight hours so she won't jump out the door when we come and go. But at night we could let her roam free inside the camper. I think it could work and she might like exploring all of the nooks and crannies.

Others?

We don't have a TT yet but we have had an inventory of 6-10 cats for the last 30 years.  They just keep showing up and my wife won't turn them in to the shelter.  So we get them fixed and they join the club.

The short answer is it depends on the cat.  I'd see if the cat was comfortable on a harness.  A cat can slip a collar and maybe a harness, if they want.  Some of our indoor cats take to a harness like a dog when they go for a walk outside.  Others play dead and will be dragged like mops across the floor.

So really it's up to the cat.

There is a youtube channel by a couple called Gone With The Wynns.  They full time RV and I've noticed their cat in a lot of their videos.  Their cat seems to be perfectly behaved, on or off the leash and harness.  They have a website or blog and will answer questions there or on the youtube channel.  Since they do travel with a cat full time they might be able to help with useful advice.

I have seen two different sets of cat owners camping with their cats. They both had fully enclosed cat [strike]cages[/strike] palaces set up outside their RV, much like a roofed dog pen.

Thanks david, cadman, and pinstriper, fo support and ideas for cat camping. Three backyard nights with Stinky were so successful that I took her buddy, Alice, with us on Saturday night. At first, Alice would not leave the cat carrier but when she finally busted out of the box, PLAY began in earnest until the wee hours. May stick to solo trips with these two characters.

Have a six sided collapsible metal cage that I am going to put outside by the front door of the tiny trailer so my traveling companions will have an opportunity to get some air. Stinky had all her teeth pulled when she just 7 weeks old to save her life from a virus in her jaws, so she is always and indoor cat. fortunately, she makes no effort to want to go out the trailer door when I am exiting and leaving.

Will check out the site for the traveling Wynns for more ideas! Thanks again.
