Mods I wish I could have

We are getting acquainted with our CL 21-BHS, and have made few changes as it was custom-made for us. In an ideal world, there are a few mods I wish I had:

A remote control device for turning on the A/C in the camper when I am miles away so the camper will be cool when I get there

A wine cooler

A rooftop patio with collapsible rails and awning and a ladder attached to the camper to gain access to the roof

I like PEI's video. My husband asks the same 3 questions when I suggest something for our camper:

How much does it cost?
How much does it weigh?
How much power will it take?

How much power will it take?
Expensive, heavy, and likely needs a dedicated battery  --- but it is still really cool and perhaps worthy of a 'when-I-win-the-lottery' wishlist!

You can see the US-dollar prices here: >> [a href="http://www.purplelineusa.com/products-ego-trailer-mover.php"]http://www.purplelineusa.com/products-ego-trailer-mover.php[/a] <<. They don't give much in the way of specifications. I have seen info online about other European brands of the same kind of thing. They needed a dedicated 12v battery.

Another wishlist mod item for me is a big skylight like these: >> [a href="http://www.dometicrvcentre.com.au/onlinestore1/skylights/seitz-heki-2-skylight"]http://www.dometicrvcentre.com.au/onlinestore1/skylights/seitz-heki-2-skylight[/a] <<. They are made by the same company that make the Camplite windows. The pricing on the website is in Australian dollars.

How much does it weigh?
Burt Rutan, the aircraft designer, had a simple test if he was considering adding something to an airframe...

...he'd throw it in the air. If it came back down, it was too heavy!

Probably work about equally well with travel trailers!

I thought I'd be able to use my he-man strength to swing the tiny trailer around. I bought a pair of heavy duty cast aluminum pull handles and anchored them to the frame near the coupler. Giving the handles a pull I soon found out that even with that awesome he-man strength I couldn't budge the trailer. It may have something to do with the trailer being parked on the lawn --- or maybe my he-man strength is more of a wee-man strength.  B-|

Shovelhead - perhaps you don't know this, but I am analog in a digital world!

However, I have thought about this. We have plans to camp in areas without wifi access, not even television signals or cell signals. Might have to think about satellite...

In theory a mod like this should be possible. Of course it would be heavy as it would not only require the lift mechanism but also lots more framing and heavy-duty outrigger stabilizers. Okay so it isn't practical - but imagine the treetop view!

I note the pic appears to have been taken in Quebec. The guy in the back doesn't look to be wearing a safety harness. I found it on the interweb thingie.

This is the mod I would do.  Ya think it's too involved?  It involves the tow vehicle as well as the trailer, but wouldn't a LL 5th wheel lend itself nicely?  It has the rooftop for Leslie too.

leslie

Oh, thank you, gw, but the Camplite is in storage in Louisville now. We will be taking it out soon for a trip to St. Charles IL. It should be hot there in the middle of June, and that is what I was thinking about with that post. We will be out all day, and it would be great to come back to a nice cold camper, but I really don't want to leave it all day with the A/C running.
