Never noticed any noise from the hitch, even in the rain. I purchased my hitch about 1.5 years ago.

This seems to support montetrotter's theory regarding rain water.
I had the same thing with our old friction sway bar... if it got wet then it creaked like mad. I'm not sure if the cone material can compensate for that.

I just got my new white cone and the install was very easy.  Using a 3 LB hammer the ball came out on the first hit. The cone was red and had some black coating on parts of the inside.  I had to use the hammer to drive down the ball a little to get the ring back on, but all in all a very easy install.  Will be taking it out at the end of the month and checking it out.  I am also thinking of taking it to the scale and checking the weight of the LL.  Using a home scale my tongue weight was 370.
Anderson was very nice about sending the cone but it did take 2 emails.  I may put a cover over the hitch while it sits outside.
