Thanks![/quote]At some point, we discussed exactly the situation with which you are dealing. After all was said and done, we almost all agreed that asking someone for help is the way to go. A number of us said we dislike asking someone, but being able to camp in your 6.0 is so much better that not camping. I have bad/torn rotator cuffs on both sides, and I couldn't open my 5.0 for a whole summer. So, I didn't go camping. Big mistake. Now, my strength has partially returned, and I am able to open and close my 5.0. However, from now on, if I need help, I'm going to go camping and ask for help. Fellow campers are notoriously friendly and helpful! Good luck!

For me, the problem was lifting. Once the bunk was on its downward journey, I would be able to use my arms. I had enough strength to lower it. Because I had enough strength to lift and lower by the next camping season, this was a plan in progress and never tested. In all honesty, I was truly afraid I would have to sell my 5.0. My mind and emails to others were looking for a reasonable solution. As I look back, I think buffres wife had the right idea . . .!

A few years ago, I sent photos from 2009, when I first got my 5.0. You've had them under testimonials on your website - http://www.livinlite.com/6.0-testimonials.php. Well I want to give you an update. My Livin' Lite Quicksilver 5.0 is still going strong. I just returned from camping along the North Shore of Lake Superior at Gooseberry Falls Minnesota State Park. I led a workshop at a ukulele carnival. Beautiful location - very quiet - very comfortable in my 5.0. My 5.0 celebrated its 5th birthday, and I really can't see any aging at all. Check out the attached photo from Gooseberry Falls. It has been from Minnesota to Kansas, to Missouri, and to many campgrounds in Minnesota. At 5 years and counting, I'd buy it all over again. Thanks for a wonderful camper!
I agree on the comments of the others. Order the deck! I too wish I had one! As to the tire size, I have the 12 inchers and have had no problems. Like Sean, "High winds have not bothered me yet either. I've been through several heavy storms and didnt even notice any flexing in the canvas support frame." I too have camped in horrendous thunder storms with hail, high winds, and heavy downpours. Never a problem. Never even a leak.

QuickSilver Mods / Upgrades / Alternate Spare Tire Mounts

My 5.0 spare tire is mounted under the camper body. Has anyone installed another spare tire mount where it is easier to get to the spare? When you are my age with two new knees and two new hips, laying on the ground is not a pleasurable experience. Thanks!

I am 68 years of age. Because of torn rotator cuffs on both my left and right shoulders, I was unable to use my 5.0 for one summer. In anticipation of the following summer, I tired to figure a way to lift the top to fold it out into the bunk position. I came up with the attached drawing. Come the spring, I was able to open my 5.0 without any help. However, I was all ready to build the device - drawing attached.
The drawing is pretty basic, but I think you'll get the idea. [attachment id="712" thumbnail="1"]
The rod that extends up from where the tongue meets the front of the camper box. The rod was to be aa approx. 3" pvc pipe with a pvc "T" on the upper end. I envisioned that the lower end of the pvc would go over one of the bunk supports for forward pivoting and stability. A line would be connected from the non-hinged end of the bunk/top, through the "T", to someone pulling on the line. Obviously, your 6.0 is rotated 90 degrees, but there should be a way to do this. I never got around to trying it, so I can't tell you if it will work at all. However, I'm just like you and wasn't happy with the "get help at the campground" suggestion. Good luck!
