Lining up snaps on tent

After the dealer put on a new tent with the new MFG some of the snaps are off a 1/4 inch. Not much I can do about that is there? I took it out today just to put it up and check it. Glad I did. Can I live with it like this? Yes I can but if I can fix it myself I will. Thanks for any feedback.

I'm not sure if this would help, but it couldn't hurt. [a href="http://www.amazon.com/Ironwood-Pacific-008-1-Top-Snapper-Canvas/dp/B000BPPQ4E"]http://www.amazon.com/Ironwood-Pacific-008-1-Top-Snapper-Canvas/dp/B000BPPQ4E[/a]

I have two of these, one for my wife and one for me. Using the "spade" end, it unsnaps snaps easily without stressing them, as is possible when doing it with your fingers. The snaps should last longer. Using the "short" end it provides a solid handgrip so you can "horse" a snap a little bit up, down, or sideways. A quarter inch should be no problem at all. I find them invaluable for snapping the bed ends, which I don't have to tell you can be a literal pain. Using the tool properly, the snap is gripped with the tool in one hand while hauling down on the bimini bar with the other. It is so much easier than trying to do it without the tool, and believe me I know. I think Livin' Lite should provide one of these with the sale of every Quicksilver. Once having used it I think you'll find it essential. They can be found at several online sources, and if you have a maritime store near you they will probably carry them. The price should be around $20.00.

Hey Chuck, you know what? I have one of those but thought it was only for removing snaps. So I put it on a snap and force it over the 1/4 inch and snap it on? OK. It was almost impossible to snap them on with our fingers. Thanks,

Yep, that's it! Over on the Yahoo forum, my friend Roger posted pictures that clarify exactly how to use the thing. [a href="https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/livinlite/search/photos?query=snap#zax/albums_102627627"]https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/livinlite/search/photos?query=snap#zax/albums_102627627[/a] It saves your thumbs, saves the canvas, and the snaps.

That helps a lot. I was using it all wrong. I see how this makes sense. Just when you think you know everything too, lol. Thank you very much.

That looks like something I could really use! I can't access the photo on the Yahoo group though. Anyway it could be shared here???

Never mind. I found a you tube video with the info I need. Thanks for the info on the product!

[/quote]Lillipets, that's great! The video clearly shows the tool being used in just about every possible configuration. I say again that it would be good if Livin' Lite included one with every Quicksilver (Scott?). Once having one I can't now remember how I set our 8.1 up without it, except that there were times when it was very, very hard, especially if it was the slightest bit damp because they shrink.

Livin Lite is on the cheap. They would never add a snap tool. That's an extra 3 bucks.

A manufacturer isn't usually the one including extra items like that anyways. The dealer adds those items

Sean, you are right about that. I will say my dealer, Prosser RV in Wisconsin sent me a tube of lube for the snaps and zippers and while I was there getting a new tent they bought for me they gave me another tube so that was nice of them. I did not ask for it. Nice people there for sure.
