You got the 16 DB with the optional tip-out bunk. That was what I was going to get if the factory would not put that tip-out bunk on my 21-BHS. Very nice. Did you order it or was it on the lot?

Hi,

Could you tell me how it is towing that 16DB with your Wrangler Unlimited?  I have the same Jeep and I am looking at the same trailer..

Hi rgally, sory about the delay, but didn't see you post before. Towing the 16db is an easy Tow with the jeep, only a little bumpy without an Anderson hitch or else. Jeep is gear 3.73 and it is 6 speed shift. I usualy do about 18 litres/100km ( 16mpg )

I too wonder about a Jeep as a TV.  I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with 6 cylinder and automatic.  Though the Jeep goes offroad well I dont believe it would tow well for me.  Is there a significant difference in horsepower and towing capacity with the newer Jeep Wranglers?

The 3.6 liter V6 engine with automatic will also tow well. But the problem is the short wheelbase, which is probably why the tow rating is only 2,000 lbs.[/p][p]
[/p][p]That is not enough to tow any of the Camplite travel trailers.[/p][p]

I'm with David. Short wheelbase is not a happy TV.

The Jeep Unlimited shown has a longer wheelbase than the 2 door Wrangler, but still not real long. Curious how the 16 foot Camplite.

Hi there,

Like it have been said before I wouldn't tow with a 2 doors Jeep Wrangler.it is rated 2000lb and have a short wheelbase. Back in 2005 to 2009, I towed a rockwood roo 17 feet hybrid trailer, rated 2700lb with my wrangler unlimited 2005 185hp 6 speed manual, gear 3.73. It was rated 3500lb tow. I had plenty of power on 4 first speed, but on 5 at highway speed with wind in front in was painfull to keep 100km/h and was really hungry on gas. The wrangler was my choice, so I wait for a more powerful engine ( since 2012 wrangler is 285hp) and choose a camplite, all aluminium, light and hope to be durable.

We only towed it for short vacation last year but it was day and knight. I was a little nervous to tow with out a sway bar, but ride was great beside a little bumpy, I think it's to light upfront ( I can lift it by hand) I am going to put a second propane tank to put weight upfront and fire the little red campfire...this summer we are going to Detroit and myrtle beach so I will have feedback for longer trip.

hope that help...its a jeep thing !

To be honest I think that a jeep rated at 3500lbs tow rating is not enought for a Camplite 16DB you should have a tow vehicule capable of at least 5000lbs tow capacity for the 16DB. I know that if you look at the advised dry weight it's under 3500 but the real weight is always more than that plus the camping gear that you bring with you. I also think the hitch weight is a bit too high for your jeep too 345 lbs dry and your limit is probably 350lbs and I am sure your real hitch weight is more than 345.

[p]Yeah, the factory dry weight is stripped, not equipped. Our 14DBS hits the scales at 3600-3800 depending on what's in the tanks. So add another, say, 200-300 for the 16.[/p][p]
[/p][p]I think by the time he gets the tongue weight up for stability he'll be exceeding the TV's max tongue weight.[/p][p]
