I installed the Fastway e2 600/6000 trunnion on my 21BHS/Toyota Sequoia:

In that picture I'm just making adjustments, so none of the chains, etc are connected. It should give you an idea of how it all fits together though. I moved the tanks forward a bit (maybe 8" or so) to make room for the brackets. Everything installed within minutes and the initial configuration worked perfectly (shank in the middle, L-brackets in the middle, and I believe 5 washers). Here are the measurements from ground to fender that I took during setup:

Unloaded: 36" front and back (isn't symmetry nice :))
Coupled without WDH: 36.25" front, 35" back
Coupled with WDH: 36" front, 35.5" back

The installation manual was clear that the front should be at or above it's original unloaded height, so I definitely won't be using any additional tension. So the net effect is that I reduced the rear drop by 50% and added stiffness and sway control, which is more than I could ask. I'll be taking it for the first longish drive this weekend and will report back if any additional adjustments needed to be made.

The one side effect is that the safety chains can't quite reach anymore because of the long shank. The sequoia has some really thick plates for attaching the safety chains and the current clips don't have a wide enough opening to attach without a lot of slack to maneuver them around. I could just put some D shackles on the plates, but that's just more things to jingle down the road. Instead I'm going to try some safety cables that have a little bit more length, and use nice drop-forged hooks that are much more durable than the bent hooks (they just un-bend in an actual emergency). They haven't arrived yet, but here's what they look like:

Another perk is the cables are coiled so they shouldn't hang and drag over speed bumps, etc...

The coiled safety cables are very nice. Have a set on my boat and really like them.

During the next one to two years planning on buying a 21BHS or Axxess toy hauler. Never had the need for a WDH with a 2000lb boat and 1500lb 11RD towing with a Nissan Frontier or Toyota Tacoma, so far. Will need a larger capacity TV if we purchase a Toy Hauler.

Would like to hear about your experience with the Fastway WDH.

Thanks,

We're loving it so far. Easy to use and very quiet compared to the friction sway bar that we used before. The only time it makes any noise is if we're doing a sharp turn at a weird angle like turning out of a steep driveway. Even then the noise is barely noticeable. It basically just feels like I'm pulling an even lighter and better behaved trailer.

[font size="3"]I used the E2 round bar 600/6000 WDH with my RPOD 172 and Honda Pilot and considered it essential. When I upgraded to a CL 21RBS and Tacoma the E2 came along too. Still considered essential.

Appreciate the info. Have plenty of time before we make a purchase, will check back in the future before buying a WDH.

Would this wd hitch fit without moving the propane tanks?

The E2 book allows for closer ball to bracket spacing if the tongue weight is less than 800#.

We have a dealer recommended and installed E2. Also dual propane and dual battery on a14DBS with no adjustment needed to the tanks. We tried a 10 mile trek in the city without it and will never go without again.

I have the Fastway 92-00-0800 Trunnion Weight Distribution Hitch and its great! Easy and effective, no holes to drill in the wonderful aluminum frame!

When backing up your rig, do you have to unhitch your e2 WDH?
