Does anyone have experience with adding a propane tank to amQuicksilver 6.0? I currently have the battery in a box on the hitch, I do not want to replace the battery but would like to add a propane tank. I do not have the extended area in the rear to add a box. Any help appreciated.

post up a pic of the hitch...i may have any idea or 2 depending on how much room you have

By hitch I assume you mean the front tongue. If so, there is not a whole lot of real estate to work with up there. Are you looking for a bolt on type rack or are you thinking about fabricating something?

Where is the tank mounted currently ? (scratching head)

@pinstriper on the 6.0 I doubt he has one mounted. Its fairly uncommon for the pop ups to have an LP package in my experience.

With the flip down tongue jack there isn't a lot of room. I was looking at mounting another batter in parallel, trying to figure that out

Well, that's sort of my point. If he doesn't have the LP package....what does he need a tank for ?

Still scratching head.

I bring a bulk propane tank to use with my camp kitchen at times. On one tank I can hook up a stove, lantern, and even have a hose running to a heater if needed :)
I just assumed he wanted to bring a 20# tank rather than a bunch of 1 pounders...
Side note: I guess scratching your head is better than some alternatives ;)

Yeah I have thought about adding a second battery to the 10.0 and it would require me to grind off the old mount and fab up something new. Even then it would be tight.
I think it would be easier to just put the tank inside the door while traveling. I guess you could also use a tank mount designed to hang it from a wall, and just mount it to the rear...

You are correct, I wanted a #20 tank to run a propane heater and stove while in the mountains, early spring. I could carry inside ( and probably will). I was hesitant to mount on rear because I was not sure if legal in all areas. Kinda a risk if rear ended. I am thinking about an aliminium box I saw on Amazon. If big enough. I could mount both propane tank and battery inside. I guess I have more research to do. Thanks for all replays....Michael

OK, that sorta makes sense, if you have the room and need the extra tongue weight for stability. Gotta put it somewhere and may as well maximize the benefits.

The 1#'ers are....eh...low ? pressure, while the 20#'ers are high ? I think they're different, anyways. So adapters, etc. or just select your appliances for one or the other.

The 1 lb. containers get expensive and do not last as long.

Not sure if this would work for you (depends on how big you can go on the tongue)...I have purchased a lift kit from orbital machine works and it was well fabricated...

Jim here from Orbital Machine Works...

If it helps we are planning on making those over-tank shelves with no front overhang so they can fit in smaller spaces.
We are running into 'lack-of-real-estate' problems on Casitas when the jack is relocated back a few inches to gain tailgate clearance.
That top shelf has grown over the years to accommodate Honda 3000 generators but lot of folks just need a Honda or Yamaha 2000 up there....
