Regular Camplite vs. Off-Road package

Does anyone know the difference between a standard Camplite (such as my 16BHB) and a Camplite equipped with an Off-Road package?

I'm curious if it is possible to convert a standard model to an off-road model.

IIRC, you used to be able to order the off-road package as an option - is that still the case, or do you end up having to buy a Bearcat?

[font size="3"]At the time I ordered my 21RBS the difference was All Terrain LT tires and the axles were mounted with 10-15 degrees additional angle. This increased the ground clearance by several inches. I suspect that factory option is still available. I'm sure the mod can be made to an existing CL, but it might require changing out the axles. I think the different axle angles may built into the axles themselves. Call Don at LL.

I think the bearcat model actually has a wider axle as the wheels extend past the body. On the smaller bearcats the axle rating is also higher for the 11 & 13 than the CL 11's &13's. The tires are also one size larger at 15" as opposed to the 14" on the original CL off road packages.

I would be curious to hear what LL has to say on the topic especially with the toe in and axle geometry on a dexter torsion axle. O_o

Another way to raise the trailer and put on the Bf Goodrich is to lift it with the dexter lift kit and put the tires on after. Not sure of the complexities of lifting a tandem axle (alignment, toe in, etc) but my single axle 13 is doing well with the mod. Another member posted a VRV lift earlier in the year if you want to see tandem axle pics. I created a string about a month ago on my mods...

I have a 2014 11FK with off road factory package. I like the bigger tires for on and off road.

I think I could come up with a way of maintaining alignment of the axles -- maybe.

I'm assuming I still have limits on tire sizes, as the inter-axle spacing limits how big I can go.

 We ordered our2015 DB16 with the off-road package 14 inch aluminum wheels and BF Goodrich TA  off road tires .I believe the Dexter axels have a higher weight rating than the standard setup .

I think the dexter tandem lift kit might also come in a continuous plate for both axle mounts, it would then just be a matter of aligning the brackets to a parallel run within a reasonable tolerance. not sure what the tolerance would be, but an axle / spring shop should be able to tell you...i seem to remember a fair amount of info on the dexter website...re alignment...but can't seem to track down the link again...
