Hello,

We're just adding our introduction to the others on this board, following the email from Scott Tuttle about the move from Yahoo.  We own a 2012 CampLite 16BHB, but with out the "bunk house beds" and with a tip-out.  We've camped in 8-9 states (mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes). We have loved this trailer!

[span style="font-size:10pt;"]Thinking about moving up soon, but we could not have started camping/RV'ing without Livin' Lite, because we were committed to towing with a Highlander that had a 3,500 pound tow limit.  We're thankful to Scott, Don Neufelder, and the Livin' Lite team who made it possible and have served us well.

Do you still have the camper? Is it up for sale?

salotti

Shonsu,

Sorry for the reply from "uselessboardsystem."  I would have imagined that this new forum, with better functionality than the old Yahoo! list, would have automatically logged me in when I clicked the link in the email sent to me.  The board didn't.

Yes, we still have the 16BHB.  Let us know if you are interested.  Thanks!

shonsu

Yes I am interested.  I guess it all depends on how much you are asking and where you are located.

We had our first full hookup for four nights at a Lake Erie campground on Sept. 12 ,2014 in our new camp lite 2013 16 DB travel trailer. All the equipment e.g. water pump, furnace, microwave, cook stove, 3-way refrigerator, toilet, shower worked great. My wife and I were wanting to find four nice days in a row. Turned out with 67F days and 48F nights. My wife slept on the Queen bed with Coco our 50 lb 18 month old Golden doddle. I got comfortable on the Jack Knife Sofa bed. After four days the toilet was at 14 gallons of strongly perfumed waste. After watching the next door camper do their dumping I decided to carry the load my home were the sewer cleanout stub outside my garage and make cleaning the sewer hose easier. My biggest take away from our first outing was the exceedingly strong deodorant from the Kem Dry I used. I put 2 ounces in my 14 gal tank when the package said for up to 40 gallon tank. The deodorant smell made lips and tongue tingle. The deodorant smell stil persists in my bathroom even after a though rinsing of my black water tank???? If anyone can give me an idea on solving the deodorant smell problem I am open to suggestions...

We have a 16 BHB with tip out.  We tried a couple of blackwater treatment products.  The best we've found is at this link:
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/porta-pak-holding-tank-deodorizer-and-waste-digester-fresh-scent/23913

They make a number of scents, but we've found the "Fresh Scent" (blue packets/crystals) does the best job at eliminating sewage smell without perfuming the trailer.  We've had several instances over the past two years that blackwater has accumulated up to the neck of the toilet, without significant odor.  Hope this is helpful and works as well for you as it does for us.

[p]OCD: says thanks for suggestion on black water treatment. I have taped close every crack, opening, aluminum floor joint, and the toilet in my bath room to stop the perfume smell. The last thing I taped with blue painter's masking tape was the aluminum floor seams. This eliminated the perfumed odor. Next I am going to pull the toilet and check its seal, and also see if the floor has internal open channels around the base of toilet drain pipe. If so I'll seal them. I want to have Eco friendly air eventually????[/p][p]Best to You,[/p][p]ocd[/p]

"just turn it on and burn off the chemicals".    This is normal and you see that often on all other RV forum with all brand new unit, this is not something for LL only.

I was in the heating and cooling business 10 years and when I installed Hot air furnaces they all emitted smoke from the oils left on the heat exchanger during manufacture. My 16QB did the same as yours in the middle of the night when we first time turned it on. After that it was find as I reassured my wife and golden doodle. If I was a RV manufacturer I would tell them to expect this when firing up the furnace the first time.
Best Regards,

If I was a dealer I'd do this for the customer so I don't have to worry about them having any issues.

Jane,
Sorry to hear about your late night wake up! But as others have said this was normal and will not repeat its self after the first time. I just bought a new griddle and the manual said to heat-up to max. for 5 minutes, "until no odor or smoke is present." I had a propane detector that gave me a start twice in one night while camped in my Lance truck camper.  I figured out after a bit by measuring from the detector to where my 170 lbs Newfoundland was sleeping that it was gas but not propane!  Don't give up!

OCD: Just to update those interested on why I can smell the Black water Deodorant in MY 16DB. I removed the white Aluminum corner panel behind toilet. Inside I saw the black vent 1 1/2 " dia. ABS pipe coming up thru 3" dia. hole in the floor. The gap was not sealed and the connection to the black water tank appears to made with a rubber grommet and sealed to the black water tank with a pliable caulking. The vent pipe was coated with grease where it entered the grommet. I suspect odor leakage at this point or the grommet interface with the tank. Unable to do anything about this type of connection. I would like to see a solid screw/glued stub connected to the black water tank and my vent pipe, and a slip seal where the vent pipe goes up thru the roof; Also, the gapping hole thru the floor should be sealed to keep critter/mosquitoes/stinkbugs out of my trailer. Which I sealed. Lastly I saw a gapping unsealed hole where the vent pipe went thru the ceiling. I sealed it. Then I climbed up on my trailer roof, I removed the vent cap. The vent pipe had an approx. 1/16 gap around it that would allow the black water deodorant smell to be sucked back inside my trailer when I turned a vent fan on. I sealed around it. The roof vent Cap is about 9" from the vent fan lid opening with is problematic if left it open with other vent fans sucking in the deodorant smell. I hope LivinLite reads this and eliminates and improves the black water tank venting connections. Who knows whether the gray water vent pipe has similar connections? By the way I can't smell any black water deodorant anymore. I also ran a bead of silicon caulk around my toilet base and between where the plastic base meet the porcelain bowl. I sealed every seam that might allow The deodorant to seep into my bath room!!! ETC ETC
