So discouraged with my 10.0

Kinda wish I had not bought it. Just one problem after another so far. LL is sending me the 3rd faucet to put in. The others all leaked. Tent keeps leaking. I have sealed it 3 times now. Now the zipper is missing teeth on the door and needs to be fixed. Not to mention all the things I did repair. Should not be like this. I worked on it 8 hours today trying to fix leaks. I just can't stop the leaks in the sink and the tent. Oh well. Sorry.

I sincerely wish I could give help and encouragement, but from what you have written I wonder if you got a "Monday" camper. I'd be pretty angry and discouraged. I'd be personally very upset if I'd been the guy that recommended Quicksilver to you, as I have to so many. I have recently begun to suspect that Livin' Lite is "orphaning" Quicksilver---that they are far more interested in the Camplites. If I'm right, that's really sad because they started with Quicksilver, and daggone they still are among the spendiest tent campers available. For what they charge they ought to have better quality control, and they should care deeply about perception, because "perception is reality."

We have a 2010 8.1 that has gone thousands (seriously) of miles in 5 full seasons. We are retired and use it to tour. This year we were out 99 days in 30 different camps. We picked her up at the factory. On the second night coming home it poured, which took care of the recommended wetting of the threads to seal the seams. She leaked maybe a quarter-cup of water over the spare bed. She has never leaked one drop since unless you count what blows in if we have a storm canvas open for ventilation. I have heard on the other forum that Livin' Lite has (or at least had) a different tent supplier than the one that made our tent, and that others have had persistent leaks in newer tents. I've also heard that those owners raised Cain with LL and/or the dealer to get a whole new tent not made by that manufacturer, which seems to have ended their leaks.

We've never lost a tooth on a zipper. We've had our "main" zipper (left as seen from outside) fail only twice in 5 very long seasons, both times by separating behind the slider. We are lucky enough to have a tent and awning place right in our town. The first time the guy replaced just the slider for less than $30 bucks and said the zippers were fine but the sliders were not the best. This season the "main" zipper went again while we were thousands of miles from home. We pinned and whipstitched it with dental floss and used the other zipper until we got home. We'd also had some stitching pull out of the plastic window next to the door, and half the snaps on the tonneau had broken after hundreds (really) of cycles on and off. We went back to the same guy who repaired/replaced everything for under $200. The new "main" zipper is triple the size of the factory one. Our 2010 tent is still going strong after 5 long seasons in the sun. I see no excuse that your problems should be happening except Livin' Lite got a bad batch from a bum manufacturer and should replace your entire tent!

My only other maintenance expense is having the wheel bearings greased. I have zero ability to do things myself. I ain't wealthy, but I need it done right so I have it done. This is why we have actually carried Quicksilver brochures (!) to hand out to folks! We considered the Quicksilver bombproof, but I really wonder about the newer ones.

The sink is another matter. We have simply never used our sink and faucet. We were tent campers for 30 years and still think of the Quicksilver as a glorified tent. But on the Yahoo forum I have seen many endless discussions of issues with the pump---leaks, failure to operate, simply breaking---so you are not alone in having issues with the plumbing. Our solution is never to use it (in fact I'd love to have no sink at all) but that's not to excuse Livin' Lite. They put a sink and plumbing in, so it ought to work.

I agree, "Should not be like this." I hope Livin' Lite and your dealer get busy and work this out. I have always said, "Ask the man that owns one," so I'd think Livin' Lite would want to make you a satisfied owner!

Thank you very much for a great post. I spent all day on the plumbing and got nothing done with that so I figured I would get the bugs off the top so I washed it. Went inside and water leaking every where, lol. So I guess I will contract the dealer next week. Camping season almost over anyway. I bought it so now I have to try and fix it. I think Iwill look on line for a better faucet for an RV. This piece of plastic they call a fump is so cheap I can see why it leaks.

I bought a 2015, the tent does NOT leak. I seasoned it well though. It is not the new tents. I guess it is just poor consistency. I did however have a lot of other issues that I have worked tirelessly to fix and I think that I am just about there. The issues that were the factories fault I contacted them about and they were very good about fixing them. Some things I went through the dealership and they were very good about helping me also. It took time and patience, but it got done. Some advice, if you call LL, call early Indianapolis time. That is when I have had the best luck getting through to an actual person. They do not return phone calls sadly. The things that were not the factory's fault I fixed myself and put in the extra money to have a perfect trailer, but I think after you get it sorted out you will have a "bomb proof" trailer, to quote Chuck. I am sorry, but I do not have the issues that you have. Definitely call LL and have them fix these issues. It is their product and they should be making these repairs on their dime. Hopefully, they will lose enough money fixing their mistakes that they will take a round turn on their quality. More than likely not since they are now owned by a huge conglomerate, but you never know. If you are a thorn in their side you will get them to respond. I eventually started e-mailing Scott Tuttle directly.

Well said, Zasseg! I'm not absolutely certain, but I think Livin' Lite may be the only RV manufacturer that customers can deal with direct. They are growing fast, though, so eventually that will probably end, but right now it seems that it is still possible (though getting harder) to get answers right from the factory, and even from Scott Tuttle himself. Scott really does care very deeply. That's pretty unique. From what I've read about many, many other brands, the problems are many and often worse, and getting them corrected is entirely a matter of dealing with the dealers, who sometimes know little about the product, or fixing it yourself. Since I am the unhandiest guy you'll ever know, I have to find and pay people who can fix stuff for me, and being on Social Security price i$ and object. We have beat our little QS half to death in 5 full seasons, yet have not had to spend even close to the rent to maintain her. We would be very hesitant even to go to a Camplite because of the obvious maintenance concerns (water tanks, black water, brakes, windows, yadayada...). One of the main reasons we have never bothered to hook up our sink is to keep it as simple as possible---a glorified tent, mainly so we don't have to sleep on the ground any more. We have never camped so much as we have since getting Rosie (yeah, she has a name). We feel lucky, though, that we have not had the problems encountered by others, especially Ron10. Don't give up, Ron. The Quicksilvers are worth it!  :)

Thanks guys. I can't give up because I own it and I have to fix it. I got my third FUMP, as they call it, in the mail today. the faucet. I hope this one does not leak. Putting it in tomorrow morn. I am just blocking one hose off completely that goes to the 7 gal container with a cut off valve. I will never ever use it and water runs into the take like crazy because of the poor design. Now to seal the seams for the forth time too. I have used 3 different brands. Going to try McNett now.
