Canvas question

I own a 2015 quicksilver toyhauler with pop out queen bed and was curious for any advice on care with its canvas? I read and found that its recommended to not use any cleaners on them so I last cleaned it with warm water and dawn dish soap. Any tips on cleaning the inside part? Also any recommendations on camping in the rain? It says it can handle up to 5-6 hours of rain but I have never had it out in bad weather yet and figured most people here have. Any advice is helpful. I know this isn't in the toyhauler section but I figured it would be easier to find answers in this section. Thanks

The canvas should essentially be the same as our QS pop ups. If so then it should handle days of rain ( I know mine has). As for care I use a mold/mildew cleaner that states its safe for canvas and it has done well so far. Don't expect to get any stains out of it without significant effort but honestly even if it has a stain or two it wont impact the function.

Thanks! What cleaner do you personally use? Can you send a link. I also need to get a wax stick? Never seen one but the manual says its good to have one just in case. How do you put yours away if its raining out? Just drive it wet and set it up to air out when you get home?

Have any of you found an ingenious way to keep the chill out of the tent areas? In mine I was thinking about putting foam noodles around the outside bottom edge to help keep air from getting in.

I personally use Moldex as it is a cleaner, disinfectant, and inhibitor all in one. Bleach free and rated as safe for just about every surface. So far it has done a great job despite the deep rooted stains.

As for a wax stick, you can use just about any semi soft wax as a seam sealer. Something as simple as a plain candle could work as long as its not that super flaky style. If you dont mind the difference in color I personally feel there is nothing better than beeswax. It is great as a zipper lube, seam sealer, fire starter, and on and on.

As for the chill, there isn't much to be done beyond keeping any gaps closed. You might also try hanging a curtain at the opening which will help with the chill spreading to the rest of the camper. Otherwise I'd say just treat it like any other tent.

Thanks again Sean. I will try getting some Moldex. Watched your video on setting up your 10.0 last night and thought it was really neat and informative. I've never seen them put up and its really a unique trailer.

I appreciate it. We are still trying to figure out our style for the videos but I definitely think its coming along. Its very strange talking to a camera vs a person or audience.
The uniqueness of the QS is part of what attracted me to it. It seems to be one of the quickest and easiest pop-ups to setup.

I really like the swing table in yours. Really cool feature. I seen that your Wife was wanting a shower. Have you looked into the outdoor propane ones or a solar shower? One of the main reasons I bought my toyhauler is because I haven't seen anything quite like them. I looked for a long time at trailers and toyhaulers and seen my now Toyhauler on rvtrader at a dealer. I was like thats more than I want to pay even though I loved the look. After another  month of looking it was still listed and I had my wife call and throw out a low ball offer and they pretty much laughed at her but after about 10 minutes on hold they countered at 900 more than we offered so I did the whole deal over the phone and had it delivered without even looking at it. I was not let down when it arrived. I have yet to see anything like them while out camping. I get all sorts of looks and people staring. I am going to be doing a review of my trailer the next time I have it out ( I won't be on screen though as I will be holding the camera) for my youtube channel. My channel is mostly used for pyro though as I put on firework displays on the side. There just isn't enough information on our trailers on youtube and the ones that are one there are mostly just salesman trying to sell them.

I have another video on my on demand pump which I ultimately plan to use as part of the shower. I can use it to power those on demand propane heaters at some point in the future. However at the moment I plan to use it by heating my 7 gallon water jug with boiling water . This should stay warm enough for the duration of a shower while providing enough water if you don't waste time.
All I need now is a pop up privacy shelter.

As for the the video I look forward to seeing it. If you ever need an opinion or collaboration I'm always happy to help. I can't guarantee it will be a worthwhile opinion though lol.

Sounds like you have it figured out! The last campground we went to was hit with ecoli a day before we showed up so I packed 7 aquatainers with me for washing and shower and used a solar shower. We tarped around a pop up and hung the shower in the center. It worked pretty well. I want to try to buy a privacy shelter that is strong enough to hold a 5 gallon bladder but haven't found one yet.

I look forward to posting a review of it. It will be a straight forward video without much editing as I don't know how to do much of that yet. I will probably post it on the toyhauler section when I get it done. Thanks for offering to help and if I need any I will definitely let you know.

I've thought about making a privacy shelter out of PVC, perhaps that would work for you as well. A basic framework make from heavy gauge PVC should hold the weight of a 5 gallon bladder (even if it does bend a little).

I think we are on the same page as I was thinking about doing the same thing. I was thinking about finding the snap together tubing or something that I can take apart when done. If you end up making one or coming up with something I would love to see it.
