Hey all,
I have noticed in my 13bhb that where my front bunk contacts the lower supports along with the front storage compartments where the lids meet supports, a black carbon like residue appears over time. It is like where the two aluminum parts meet and there is some movement there is this residue created. Anyone else have this problem? I am thinking of cleaning it up and putting some tape or something on one surface to prevent it.

In the industry where I used to work, it is called "fretting corrosion". It happens when two metal surfaces are vibrating at the contact points. The fine metal particles easily oxidize and thats the black stuff. Using some sticky back foam tape is a good solution, use something to eliminate the metal to metal contact and you will be fine.
