Just wanted to say hi. I have been reading this forum for awhile now to see how people feel about their Quick Silver pop up campers. Finally bought a new 10 last fall because of their light weight and I'm pulling it with a Jeep Wrangler. Have been reading most of the post for the QS so I will be better informed of the issues that you have all experienced and what should be upgraded. Thank you everyone for your ongoing input that has been most helpful.

Welcome from MD. Hoping to drag ours out that way in January headed towards San Diego. Enjoy your camper and hope you camp more than you planned this year.

hey, welcome.

I love our QS 10.0. It's huge, simple, easy to setup, easy to tow. You can get into into spots where you are right in or up against nature.

Hi Chuck893, I have been following your posts on the bed issues and saw that you had ordered one of the 4" memory foam toppers. You had posted that it had not closed all the way...were you able to fix the issue. I am trying to decide if I should go with the 3" or 4" toppers.

I use a memory foam topper myself. I just fold them up and stick them in the rear of the trailer with my folded sleeping bags.

I'll try to be concise even though it's not in my DNA.  :D

It's hard to explain in words, but what I do first is draw the mattress (4" topper but we think of it simply as "the mattress) out of the frame and slide it on top of the dropped tent. I begin bring the bed frame over, and while it is balanced in the vertical position my wife and I slide the mattress well back toward the hinge so that the mattress actually bends up a little bit into the vertical bed frame. As we continue lowering the frame the edge of the mattress trapped at the hinge folds on itself. What that accomplishes is that the mattress no longer tries to slide out from beneath the frame, so as the frame is lowered into place the mattress stays fully inside the lip of the frame (what was happening before I figured this out was the mattress was getting scooted out past the lip so the bed frame could not completely close). The folding and compression of the small portion of the mattress (topper) at the hinge seems not to bother it at all. When opened it springs right back, and besides it is only a small portion of the side of the thing, and it's the side I sleep on anyway so who cares?  :D

Of course there is still double the thickness of mattress relative to the factory mattress, so I have to lean on the bed frame with my elbows to "moosh" it down so I can align and snap the tonneau, but it works, and when the camper is next opened all I have to do is slide the mattress back into the bed frame. Since I'm unutterably lazy that works for me!  (rofl)

Welcome to the forum. I own a QS6 that I pull with a Jeep Willeys. I put a four inch memory foam on mine and have made it work with modification. It just seemed to be reluctant to close. I was not smart enough to try Chuck's idea but will share mine. Part of the problem with this 4" foam was the weight. I camp by myself, a 2 1/2 yr. old granddaughter and added a 4 month chocolate lab. My camp mates are very lazy and do not help with setup (something about it is  too tall). I found the foam mattress  folding and bunching up without control when closing. I bought 2 fifteen ft. 1in wide nylon straps and wove through the both sides of the main bed. Before I close, I cinch in down, ( From Chuck, I now know I should fold the outside edge) and lower away. The mattress is controlled and I have additional grips to help stabilize as I lift or lower bed. Once setup, I just fold strap under that mattress and it is out of site. No problems so far. In hind site, I probably should have gotten a 3 in but my butt side really loves the comfort.
The mattress still is full but I can manage it easier and I think more safely.

Good Luck and Enjoy

I was not ambitious enough to try your idea!  :D  I think I saw somebody else with the moxie to put in straps. I'm just lazy lazy lazy. But the folding and bunching, plus being pushed out from under the frame was what I experienced until I hit on simply allowing the edge of the thing to fold under at the hinge. I agree that your granddaughter and dog should be chastised for unseemly laziness! My wife complains of being altitudinally challenged and lacking in strength as well, forcing me to book it from one side of the bed frame to the other to adjust the thing all by myself (and indeed, the big foam jobs are pretty heavy). (*SIGH!*)  (rofl)

Chuck and mjMoore thanks again for the feedback. I think I may go with the 3" rather than the four for the ease of operation. I had bought a small foam topper to help out the factory mattress. I take it off and put it on the table when I fold it up so between the two it should help.
