6.0 newbie

[p]Hello I will apologize in advance, if this has been covered before, still learning to navigate the forum.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Has anybody discovered a good  tool/ tip for opening or closing the  6.0 if you are solo ?   rod ?  rope ? support  spring ? any advise would be appreciated  I'm  not a big  guy and  shoulders and joints aint what the used to be !![/p][p]I can do it  solo but father time is starting to talk to me !! thanks [/p][p]
[/p][p] P.S,  these 6.0 Quicksilvers  are as scarce as hens teeth at least  in the western half of the U.S.  seems not so tough to find in the eastern half , in the west they are gone in a flash when they come up used !![/p][p]
[/p][p]also any thing  you can tell me  or warn me or alert me to  on the 6.0 would be appreciated, thanks. [/p]

I am pretty close to buying a 6.0, but I won't do it if I can't open and close it myself.  Have you learned any tricks in the last week or so?

I have the QS 8.1 and I can set it up alone.  My back isn't what it used to be, but i flip over the queen sized bunk easily.

I have a QS 6.0 and open it by myself always. I am an old guy with a bad back but no real problems. I do make sure the supports are able to swing free and ready to take the weight when lowering. Since I added a 3 in pad to replace the mattress, I threaded a 1 in. Strap around the bunk to hold the mattress in place, the strap does help with lowering the bed in a more controlled fashion.

Just prior to selling or 6.0 to a individual with knee and back problems I came up with a PVC pole and strap assist.

With the door open place a 6-8 foot pole into the corner of the bed after lifting the lid and stepping through the door.  Attack with a carabiner to the support pole bracket with about six feet of webbing.  With the webbing over your shoulder push the bed up and then use the webbing to control the descent to fully open the lid/bed.

To close use the camper use the pole to prop the lid and attach the webbing.  Go inside the camper and using the webbing pull the lid up and over while backing out of the camper door.

Wow.  Thanks charleschapman.  I mostly did it myself in the showroom, and I plan to practice some more in the garage.  If it is too much then I'll get a pole and strap.  Great idea.  LL should have a kit for solo travelers who want to do this.  I keep seeing on other forums that people are turned off by the videos saying that it really needs two people for opening and closing.
