Hi,

I'm new here.  I bought 2010 QS6 last spring and have had a lot a fun with it.

I found this forum because i'm looking for a small dorm refrigerator that will fit in my QS6 when packed up.

Any suggestions?

Joe

Hi Joe

Glad you are liking the QS6!

Regarding dorm fridges -- please note the typical low-cost ones are practically useless. I'm referring to the thermoelectric models that are most common. They cool but performance is limited to a specific number of degrees below ambient temperature. Maybe not a problem in a man cave but in a hot camper the bacteria could be having an orgy on your food. You simply can't rely on a thermoelectric fridge to keep your food safe as soon as you stray from ideal conditions.

The better but significantly more expensive option is a compressor cooler. They are technologically more like a traditional fridge but typically use a fan. >> [a href="http://www.amazon.com/ARB-10800472-Fridge-Freezer-Quart/dp/B002Q1INDM/ref=pd_sbs_263_10?ie=UTF8&dpID=41swQHT0X-L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR151%2C160_&refRID=1PMTNQAXMH41JJCS767B"]Here's an ARB one on Amazon.[/a] << As you can see -- VERY EXPENSIVE! An alternative you might find more affordable (but still expensive) is to buy a premium quality ice chest. It is one of my favorite pieces of gear. Really a lifetime purchase. Another premium brand are called Yeti.

I love my Yeti ice chest/cooler. i DID NOT want to spend the money on it. Now, I wish I bought the next size up. I packed it up last june on Sunday and there was still ice in it on Thursday.

the Pelican and Grizzly models are in the same category.

Also check out Engel coolers. They are really well made and one of the originals before Yeti made expensive ice chests cool...get it?  I'm punny.

Google "Truckfridge". They are some of the best value compressor style portable (and built in) 12 VDC/ 120 VAC refrigerated coolers.
