Six dB probably not noticeable. Even though it's theoretically reduced to 25%  the human ear is not a linear device. You really have to get into the 10dB or more range to think it was worth while. Also, you need to determine if the majority of the objectionable noise is from the fan or the compressor. The compressor is the deeper rumbling sound. The fan change does not affect compressor noise.

3. would the blade change make the unit less effective in cooling (need the power for Texas summers :)? The 3 bladed fan will move less air and cool less. Don't they say 6 blades over Texas? Oh, I meant flags   :D
Thanks charliem! I'd go for 12 blades over Texas   8-)

6 to 8 db is alot I am hoping LL will get me one. And by the way more blades don't make more air. Pitch and horsepower gives you air.

I replaced the fan blade to a three blade and can say its half as loud. I also got tired of the factory sending me those CHEAP PORCH LIGHTS!!! They paid me 120 for my trouble of replacing those lights and I used the money to put what I wanted on there, a motion activated porch light. I had to change some wiring and ad a wall switch which livin lite gave me.
