Mystery Snap??

So this has been bothering me for a while.

I own a QS 8.1.  On the bunk end of the tent (small bed), there is an mystery snap (circled in red) on the canopy strap.  I have no idea of what it could be for.  Any ideas?

I think someone made a mistake or they sneaked an additional snap on and charged you $50 for the deluxe snap canvas. ?

Could it be the same strap used in multiple units, say the 6.0? Use the mystery snap in the smaller bunks and the other snap for the longer ones... just a thought

I also have an 8.1, on my small bunk end i have the snap and the poly loop that snaps to it that holds a bimini pole.  There isn't a bimini pole on that side so the loop hangs empty.  I think Sean is probably right...it is used on another model that has another bimini pole.  It looks like the snap loop was cut off yours.  Someone didn't like it?
